Rolex Price Increase. Finally?

Today, I heard through an AD here in Chicago that the new Rolex price list (20% higher than current price list) is supposed to go in effect any day.

Has anybody else heard this?

I thought the new prices would become effective after Basel in mid-March.

Doesn't makes sense to do that now in the States. Aren't the current U.S. prices in line with others around the world after there increases over the last year???

There will be a price increase.

Possibly in 2010. If not, maybe 2011.

Can you spell W_e_a_k D_o_l_l_a_r (USD)?

Besides, my local dealer says Rolex has been selling really well during this recession, no so for other brands.

Just got off the phone with a friend that works at Rolex headquarters in Switzerland. He told me not to expect an increase till at least late in the 4th quarter. This decision has been made due to the value of a dollar and the conversion to Francs. Currently it is $1 dollar for $1.07 Francs. The value of gold, which continues to rise is an issue they follow closely as well.

So, if you plan on making a purchase, keep in mind that this information is iron clad.

This information came straight from the lips of the janitorial engineer in charge of procurement of toiletries on the 4th floor and disposal of garbage from the lobby.

I personally think there will be a price increase this year. I am no AD salesman so I have no bias. This is just my opinion. Although the US is not doing as well, some other countries are doing ok. It would not make sense to keep US prices low so foreigners can fly over and purchase in the US and sell in other countries. We did not have a price increase for a while already and from what my AD told me, many foreigners are now buying Rolexes in the US b/c of the dollar. I'm sure Rolex does not want too much room for people to trade their watches on secondary market for profits. They will most likely correct the US market after basel release.

I was told a price increase next month. I was also told SS models wouldn't be going up too much (guess that means 10%?) but that gold and TT watches were going up a ton.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 20% is on the gold models given the dollar and gold prices.

This is not the case right now with the Euro. 6 months ago, US watches were going to Europe b/c of the exchange rate. However, not anymore.

I was told by an AD last month to expect a price increase this spring but they didn't have any other info. I took it as truth but also as a sales ploy to buy now, since it came after our discussion on their store prices.

So let me guess. The next thing he said was: "Luckily, I have several models in stock which I can still sell you today at the current MSRP."

What a deal!!

I was at my AD last week deciding on my next purchase and she brought up the price increase before I even asked about it. She said the store had already printed the new price tags and the increase would be happening very soon. She didn't tell me the percentage but mentioned it was a decent hike.

I was just at my AD accompanying a friend who was looking at a Kermit.... the sales hike is coming, but mum's the word about when exactly.

I'm not going to wait around for it to come, I'm going to see if I can swing another Rollie before the hike gets here one last time this year.

My feeling is that this is an unlikely jump given that the world is in a general economic slowdown, but I suppose it depends on what they want to do.

And even 2012 and 2013 there could be price increases, now 2014 Rolex will be doing a one time offer. You buy one you get one free you buy two you get two free, this applies to S.steel models only.

20% is impossible. I'd expect 5-10% increase. I think Rolex will rather play the old game of introducing the new models (like the SS Sub Ceramic) at a considerably higher price tag than the old models. This way they can "mask" bigger price increase.

For example, right now 16610 is US$6000, while SS GMT IIC is $7000. I expect SS GMT IIC to rise to around $7700, while the new Sub to debut at slightly more, e.g. $7800. That would mean "only" 10% price increase for the GMT, but +30% for the Sub.

An AD told me they are going to raise prices in March by at least 50% and I better hurry up and buy as many as I can before they do!!!!!! He said he was nice and tipping me off and letting me in his inner circle--What a great guy!!!!
