exchange?

Hey Guys,

Bought a GMT IIC a week ago and I can not get comfortable with it on my wrist. It is not the size, as I have 2 other 40mm+ watches. A Breitling and a Tag. It seems as if it is either riding to low on my wristand hurting the back of my hand, or it is too tight if I move it above the wrist bone. So my question is this. Do you think the dealer would let me exchange it for a datejust? Can you usually exchange a watch that you have worn for a week? Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks

The local Jared has an exchange policy, but I think it's only 3 days.

Jared is a pathetic AD. They do have a 30day return policy... return it.

I would bring it back ASAP for any shot at an exchange and hopefully you have a good relationship with the AD.

I was relating a local place to your story. You asked if you can exchange a watch that you have worn for a week. Since you didn't post the name of your AD, it's kind of hard for us to know what their return policies are.

Since you posted that the receipt says 7 days, I say try and take it back. The worst they can do is say no!

When you tried it on in the AD how did it feel? Did they have to remove any links for you or adjust the bracelet? It could just be a simple adjustment. But if you're not happy take it back and see what they say.

Yeah, they removed 2 links and I have been back twice to adjust the pins. I love the watch, but $7000 for an uncomfortable watch is no bargain.

Good luck.

The AD is going to have to EAT the difference if he takes it back. It is now a used watch, and he cannot sell again as new.

Yeah, I know. That is why I was asking if anyone had done it. I know when I was first looking at a different AD I could not decide between 2 models he told me to buy one and if I didn't like it return it for the other. As if it was no big deal. So I was curious what the scoop was.

It is funny isn't it how you find the watch uncomfortable as i think it is one of the most comfortable watch i have ever had on my wrist. Best bet is get shut and send it over to me ! If you have a good relation with your AD he might just swop it, but i would do it quickly.

YEah, get rid of it. I remember looking at pic's of the GMT IIc thinking "what an amazing piece" and then I went and tried it on, something just isn't right about the new rolex case and dial and brushed center links...to me anyway.

Still waiting for my 16610 sub from my AD.

I really don't think the AD will have a problem taking it back. These things happen and it's a lot of $'s to not be happy about! But, you can't delay.

I've heard of this before. Some say the new clasp is not as comfortable as it is longer but personally, I've never owned a Rolex with the new clasp. See if you can get a refund b/c if you sell it now on the forum, you would probably be taking a pretty big hit.

I think this needs more research. (slipping on white lab coat) What you need to do is send the watch to me , and I will scientifically wear it for a couple of years to determine exactly what the problem is.

I'm sure I can solve this problem with one or two 2 year cycles.

And I won't charge you a dime.

Exactly. However if you have a good past relationship with that AD or they think you'll be buying more watches from them in the future they may just do it. It's also possible they may take it back on trade for a slight "return fee" since it's no longer a new watch. In any case, it sure can't hurt to ask.
