I'm agonizing about my next purchase later this year and I can't decide between a GMTIIc or Sub Date, both SS.

I own a T series Exp II, so I want a black dial now.

There are pros & cons to both watches, on the one hand I already own a GMT "complication" but the Sub is not "updated" as the GMT yet.

One the other hand I'm not crazy about the polished center links of the GMT but I want the new oyster bracelet (my ExpII doesn't even have solid links and I want a watch that will definitely not rattle).

I know the sub has SEL, does it rattle? Is the new oyster bracelet that much better?

Then there's the ceramic bezel and maxi case...

Any comments or pros & cons?

I would go for the GMT II, I just like it more myself but both are great watches.

We are in the same boat my friend ... i like them both but can only buy one since the wife is also getting a rolex. Its so hard to decide sometimes

The new Subs will have the upgraded Oyster bracelet that includes the Glidelock. IMO this is a vast improvement on the present bracelet because it allows for micro-adjustment (I think in increments of 1.8mm each time) to accomodate wearing the watch in hot/cold weather.

PS The Sub's Glidelock isn't exactly the same as the Deepsea's. The latter's can be adjusted while the watch is still on the wrist but with the Sub, you'll have to take the watch off before sliding back and forth. But it's still very useful nonetheless.

Although I feel that the Sub is the most comfortable watch I own, I think your decision comes down to whether you like the supecase/ ceramic bezel looks or not.

I think that if it were between the GMT IIc and the new SS Sub when it comes out, I would opt for the ceramic Sub...........

I was too but I went for the GMTIIc & I ertainly don't regret it!

One thing I would say though is that the Supercase certainly (IMO at least) wears bigger than the current Sub'.

Your call buddy but either way you won't go wrong!

I have to agree the GMTIIc only if the NEW SUB wasn't expected. I'd suggest waiting a couple of weeks and see if the new SUB is announced, then do a comparison and make a decision.

I went for the GMT IIc, lovely watch, I just got fed up with all the scratches the polished links & clasp picked up all the time so I traded it for a Sub & have never looked back, a true classic.

Your decision may be easier when the new Sub Date is introduced this month. It could have everything you want (including the all brushed links). With that being said...both are fantastic watches.

Nothing like a Classic Sub, but I would imagine if you waited for the new Sub it could be a while for it to make it to the AD's

I think the sub will be a nice looking watch with the ceramic bezel. It seems a little less busy than the GMT IIC. But we will have to see in a few weeks after Basel release.

I guess it really depends on if you like the ceramic bezel or not. If they get scratched or chipped ot can be pretty pricey to replace.
I would go for the SUB, but I do love the maxi dial and the super case has grown on me a little.
What about an LV?

If the "uniqueness" of the piece factors in at all, go with the GMT. The PCL's are, IMO, really pretty cool looking and not that big an issue with scratches or mars.
