Cellini
Why is it we don't see many Cellini models on peoples wrists?

Because it is a straight dress watch that has a stigma as less than a Rolex. I know two guys that wear them as daily wearers, I see them everyday. kinda odd since they are the only two people I know that own a Cellini.

Earl,
I only know one person who has a Cellini; he bought his the same time I got my TT Sub. He cannot wear a bracelet (nickel allergies, I think), and at the time, Rolex didn't offer its Oyster watches on straps. So he bought a Danaos. It's a nice watch, and I am sure it is well made, but paying $4500 for a Cellini strikes me as foolish, when you can get a JLC, IWC, UN, or G-P for the same price. Would I own one? Sure, but not at that price point. George |

If I was to get a Rolex dress watch I wouldn't go the Cellini route.

It is a Rolex and a Rolex movement inside.. I am not sure why the Cellini is thought of less lf a Rolex, other than the generic "status symbol " isnt attached to it like the more traitional models. Perhaps if you dont like the status symbol attached to your watch and like the history and company of Rolex, maybe the Cellini Rolex is what you should be wearing, they are a beautiful watch....

The Cellini line are beautiful watches, and always have been. Some of the vintage pieces can be had for $1500, and you can get a great looking solid gold watch with a Rolex movement at a nice price.
I think the issue with collectors regarding the Cellini is the size--most are around 33mm, or smaller. |

In the past 7 years, while this thread lay dormant, I can honestly say I haven't given the Cellini a thought.

Although I am a big fan of the Cellini line and would love a vintage Rolex Prince, I must say...

They are dress watches and are not very durable, and have little or no water resistance.
Not what most people are looking for. |

Maybe if I wore a tux a couple times a week. Otherwise, just too dressy for me.

I've been looking at these recently but like most have come to the conclusion I'd hardly wear it. They do look nice though.

I love my Cellini - but, then again, I'm not a guy - I wear a man's very pale rose gold vintage Cellini - it's my new favorite

It's because you don't visit The Blue Oyster Club.

I am considering buying one as a wear a suit daily and have been looking for a watch that not many people own/wear. The Cellini looks like a good option and the price point has been decreasing so I'm on the hunt.

My Cellini was the first Rolex I could afford. I bought is used and recently serviced. It is a 4033 manual wind that has seved me well. I wear it on more dressy occasions. Value wise I think it is a great line if you buy used.

I think the Cellini line, particularly the earlier ones, are great looking watches.
I concede that my gold/champagne face is not a daily wearer, but some of the others like the white face 3833, 5112, 5115, 5116 look just fine as a daily wearer. I will probably look for one of these at some time in the future as they are such bargains on the used market compared to other Models. A really understated and comfortable model that would suit people who work in an office. I don't follow the criticism that they are not robust.
