He hates these cans!
The chrono movement DD 2054 used in the new Tudor. Why is it reviled? Why is it "unservicable", why is it "disposable"? Is it made of cheese or plastic or something? Should I hate it too?

Shouldn't
You shouldn't hate it but understand what you might be buying.
The base movement and module are almost identical to the SWATCH group cheaper chrono's It should be reliable but after the guarantee big problems will be expensive. I once had a speedmaster reduced, blue dial Andretti Cart Series, which didn't properly reset, it was fixed under warranty. The complete module was changed. Jack |

Its a heartbreak really, but as someone so eloquently put it already on another post, Tudor is Tudor and Rolex is Rolex, to put an integrated movement in this watch would raise the price significantly.
They had to know though that people would pay it? It is curious, but then true WIS would be hard pressed to choose between it and a Daytona, no?

Maybe the upcoming changes regarding ebauche sales at Swatch Group influenced the use of this movement.

Also, using a 7750, instead of the current module wouldn't increase the price. Actually the Heritage will be twice as expensive as the Tudor chrono (with a 7750) that I bought a year ago, so there is a good margin in the price already, and come to think about it that chrono (one of the last of the old style) offers a huge amount of fun for the money. The Heritage will be cool, but the price is already high, with the expected ca 3000 euros. And if it wasn't for the looks I would never consider it a candidate for purchase... If I buy it I will buy it as a fashion item (and enjoy it for that). Of course I expect the quality and service to be of the current high standards of Rolex and Tudor. I am not that worried about the caliber itself... but I expected something different. (To be fair I didn't expect a re-issue either, so perhaps I shouldn't complain too much ) Best, A |

Another reason that a Tudor is NOT a Rolex, and never will be.
They are indeed fine watches and can stand on their own merits. But too many people like to act as if they are the same as a Rolex, and they are not. -Eddie
