salvaged sub
many years ago i was just finishing second deep dive of the day (about 35m i think), after a safety stop i surfaced to the ladder to find one of the other divers in total panic...
He, d been mucking about on the boat and had dived in off the back of the only to surface minus his stainless steel sub mariner. The boat was anchored on a pinnacle and all around was deep 40+ m. After instructing someone to throw a weighted bouy off the back, roughly where the y thought it might be ,i agreed to go down and have a look. I was pretty low on air but i was the only diver that day with a computer(it was about 15 yrs ago) I dropped down to bottom , about 40m with about 2m viz, i had about 2 or 3 mins bottom time, and swam in a circle abut the line when in cam e to view the watch with a busted strap. After a slow ascent the first thing to braek the surface was my right hand holding the watch to one very happy guy. That night i was treated to a bottle of whisky and many beers(dont think i bought one) and next had a massive hang over. |
