LV and micro-etched "coronet"

Does the LV have the micro-etched coronet at the 6 o'clock position? I've used my macro lens to take a picture and I still can't see it. And yes, it's an authentic Rolex. :)

Yes, the LV should have it.

I put it under the light and moved it around and finally saw it. So will that always be there or is there a possibilty of it being scrapped away?

I believe it is on the inside of the crystal, I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Is why it shows up better under indirect lighting, it's etched to the inside of the crystal

Well first not being able to see it thats a very good sign, its almost impossible to see with the naked eye.You need a 10X loupe to see it properly and then only if you get the angle and light source correct. Now on non genuine watches you can spot it quite easily.

Someone posted that the coronet is done once that the watch is finished. That means that the engraving is on top of the glass and is don by laser.

The etching is in the crystal about half way through and is not etched - the laser vapourises the glass in the same way that they make the 3 dimensional crystal pictures.

Here is an easy trick to see it ( some othe member suggested it so I can't take credit for it):
You take a flashlight and lay is as flat as you can on the dial of the watch without it touching the dial ofcourse and shine the light towards the 6 o clock position ... do it in a dark room for best results and you will see the little crown glow ... ok fine, not glow, but at least it will be there to see with the naked eye.

By the way, have the crooks replicated this feature on their replicas??

thnx

Yes crooks have etched the dials on their fakes but it is real easy to spot, and yes all Roles from around 2004 have the etching.
I have never seen it on my Exp II, now where did I put my 5,000,000 candle light torch? They did say subtle.

The LEC was introduced late 2001, but some first got it later, so there is a possibility that the early LV's don't have the LEC.

Having said that, the LEC is very difficult to spot/catch, especially on a pic, and best way to find it is to use a 10x loupe or use a small flashlight and light with it from the 12 o' clock towards the 6 o' clock position. That will literally make the LEC glow up.

Just seen mine on my GMT with a chuffing bright single led pen torch, I was not aware that all newer watches had them, I love it even more now. What else can I look for?
