My Submariner with a leather band...Photos

Hello everyone,

I just got a Hirsch band with deployant/deployment?? for my sub.

I thought I would share pictures and see what y'all thought.

I think it is a nice look to change things up a bit. But is some ways it made me appreciate, even more, the original stainless steel bracelet.

What do you all think?

SS or Bond Nato would be better for the Sub.

It's cool to change it up but not in this case...

I would like a darker black strap on it and much thicker. That strap is a bit thin for the Sub...

I prefer the bracelet myself. I'm not a fan of NATO straps either...I guess I am more of a traditionalist when it comes to the Rolex models...

The Breitlings can seem to be more interchangeable with bracelet to strap for me...

I have my 14060 on leather almost all the time. Mostly Hirsch Liberty. Pics in another thread on similar subject:

Imho, it looks quit nice. It is good to go outside the box at times. I understand that many including JJ are traditionalists and prefer the metal bracelet. I for one must wear a strap of either leather or fabric as the metal causes irritation to my wrist during to summers heat here in TX Another reason I prefer lug hole watches too.

So, I changed my band...

So I went back to the watch shop that I got the leather band at because I wanted to see if they had a different size deployant clasp that would fit better (be tighter where the clasp holds the band). I noticed that while I like the band the clasp and the thin-ness of the leather band made it feel flimsy.

He told me there wasn't another size available and that I would need to look at thicker bands. So I took a look at the Hirsch Liberty and tried it on and wow, it looked really good. I know that some people here have the Liberty but I didn't realize how good it looks and the thickness of it really makes a difference.

The watch store was nice enough to do a swap for me and I was off.

So for you viewing pleasure, here is my watch with a Hirsch Liberty; I think it looks a lot better...

That looks really nice. I just posted my NEW pics as I changed out the Hirsch Mariner with the Hirsch Liberty. I like it much better. The thickness really does make a big difference.

Thanks, Mikey. I like the change every now and then and the rugged, but casual look it gives the sub. I am beginning to appreciate the lug hole as well.

Around here you have to have a sense of humor. I am just trying to figure out how to get into the "Bastid Tosser" club that JJ runs.

Hi Greg,

I ended up switching out the band but keeping the deployant clasp.

Here is the info:

1st set up pics --> Hirsch Mariner Leather Band
2nd set of pics --> Hirsch Liberty Leather Band

Deployant clasp --> Made by Hadley Roma
Check here:

hope this helps.

Thanks. The clasp fits nice and snug now. Feels like a rugged watch which is what the sub is.

It looks a lot better proportionately with the thicker band. Still not my cup of tea though.

If you're tired of the Sub on the SS band, though, you know what they say: sometimes a change is better than a rest.

I just got a Hirsch strap for my sub as well and I took it off quicker than it took me to put it on. I love leather, but my sub looks better on a nato or zulu.
