Wear it in good health, pal.

Yes myself love the Pam 88 a great looking watch, strap hunting next.IMO Pams look really good on leather or rubber, but not sure with steel bracelets.

Congratulations, Mike. The 88 is a supurb watch. It's one of the only PAMs I would consider if I was to ever consider a PAM.

Wear it in good health and enjoy.

do you guys know where i can get the panerai buckle, i currently have the deployant....do you know what the advantages or disavantages of either a buckle strap or deployant...and what do you paneristi's prefer?

Generally speaking deployant buckles will not put a crease in your strap like a tang buckle does. Theoretically, that should make the strap last longer, but other factors could shorten the life anyway (exposure to moisture such as water or sweat).

Some people find deployants uncomfortable depending on the type - I find double deployants to be more comfortable than single.

As to what Paneristi prefer, well you would have to ask them but based on my observations, most have straps on tang buckles.

I wear mine on a tang buckle but that's more a historically correct issue (for my 01B) than anything. The deployants are more for the contemporary pams, IMO.

That said, I did wear my ExpII on a strap and deployant and loved it. Gives the strap an almost bracelet-like feel.

I actually have a spare OEM thumbnail tang I would be willing to part with. If interested, PM me.

i have never tried on the tang buckle, all my friends here wear the deployant because it does not wear down the strap.

btw, i know op straps can cost anywhere from 150-275uds depending on croc, or ostrich.

Do guys know of a trustwothy site for my to pic up a calf skin strap for a little cheaper?

another question: (so sorry for bombarding you guys, not sure you all wanted me to join the paneristi group) im also seeing that the straps come in different sizes, do you know what the oem size of my pam is?

thanks so much for helping me through this experience.

Mike

Your strap should be a 24 x 22. BUT since it is a deployant, you MUST get a deployant strap.
You will notice that the one side of your strap is very thin. Regular straps will not fit in the buckle.
I love my Greg Stevens Crazy Horse strap. His prices are very competetive.

I'm amazed none of the Paeristi have answered your question, Dan. I'm not sure I know what the answer is either. I think size may be one factor. Panerei are for the most part fairly big watches and they do have distinctivce looks about them. Beyond that, I'm not sure.

i dont own one yet but aim to, what atracts me to them is partly size(being a big lad) but also the simplicity of the dial and the fact that they look so different to other watches(apart from the hordes of panerai influenced new designs)

That's it in a nutshell for sure. The 88 is a popular brand because it's got the GMT function, the hands are skeletonized and the seconds subdial is in a contrasting colour. Daren likes it so much he's on his second one.
