End-links for 40mm holed-case sports models interchangeable?
Hi folks,
I'm the proud owner of a 16700 GMT Master with a 62510/502B Jubilé bracelet I'm hankering for an Oyster bracelet to replace the Jubilé and so I've been reading through the Rolex Bands, Braceletsand Clasp Info And Pics thread in Reference Library for more information. From there, I can see the 16700 was sold with the following Oyster bracelets over the years:
Despite searcing, the one thing I can't figure out is whether other end-links used on the 40mm holed-case sports models (e.g. 78360/580 from a 16550 Explorer II) will fit my 16700. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks. Karl.

Many endlinks will interchange at some level...
the issues are usually thickness of the endlink at the case. In other words, some watches have a thicker/thinner mid-case, so the endlink is slightly different. Others have a slightly different hole placement and so the fit isn't ideal, although close enough for most consumers who wouldn't notice.. On some of the newer SEL's there are also variants. A 78790A SEL has 801 SEL endlinks and fits perfectly. A Daytona SEL bracelet has a thicker flange on the endlink, and so, the braceelt will fit...but it will have a mis-fit at the back of the case... ......... Original SEL on the left, Daytona SEL on the right..........

Not so sure the information in the Bands, Braceletsand Clasp Info And Pics thread is complete though. The 16700 (as well as the 16710) came with 78790 bracelets without SELs according to a May 1997 price list.

The 16570 also used the 78790 with hollow 501 endlinks before the introduction of the 78790A (sel) - But I thought they all went to SEL's by ~1998/2000...
