If i had to pick i would probably take the GMT IIc.

I'd take the GMT IIc, it's a superbly engineered watch, and, in my opinion, feels that little bit more refined than the 16610. I personally prefer the chunkier construction, and the dressy looks of the GMT, plus the GMT complication would have more use for me than the diver's bezel.

However, either way, you're getting a great watch - you can't go wrong with either

I chose the ss sub date and very pleased with it. You can try both on and see which one grabs you the most. Good luck.

I think I will probably have to go with the GMT on this one. I just love the PCLs and the bezel looks to be more sharp than the Sub ceramic.

A couple of months ago I faced the same issue, I bought the GMTIIc.

My reasons:

1. Much better bracelet in the GMTIIc, even if I'm not crazy about the PCL's.
2. Ceramic bezel
3. Didn't want to buy that will be essentially old in a couple of months
4. I don't dive, but I do travel
5. The maxi-case and maxi-dial of the GMTIIc are more inline with the times
6. Did I mention the better bracelet?? For me this was a deal breaker with the Sub

That's a tough one. Both great watches. If I can do it again, I'd probably lean towards the Sub. It's comfortable on the wrist since it sits higher.
The IIc is also a great watch, but felt the bezel was a bit too 'busy'. The PCL's takes some time to get used to.
Also, keep in mind that it'll probably be more difficult, in time, to find the Sub BNIB (assuming you're going for 'new'), since its being discontinued. The IIc will be around for awhile.

You can't go wrong with either. I wanted a sub for as long as I could remember and started to save. When I had enough cash I tried on the sub and the gmt, but the gmt smiled back at me. You will know when you try both on.

The following improvements made my decision:
-updated bracelet with half link adjustment
-new super case, larger crown and guards
-maxi dial and hands
-polished links (i love them even though at first i wanted brushed)
-anti reflective cyclops

but what do I know...

I had the GMT IIc & traded it for a Sub, I didn't like all the scratches the GMT kept picking up. If you don't mind that its a great watch.

how about buying one now & the other one later? They are both good watches with different functions, the GMT for travelling & SUb for diving.

I ended up buying both. I bought the Sub LV first but still really longed for the GMTc. I finally traded my tt blue sub for the GMTc. I felt that I did not need two subs and the tt blue sub just sat in the safe. I have a tt Datejust2 so I have not missed the tt blue sub in the slightest. Both SS Sub and GMTc are similair but distinctively different if you know what I mean...That is why I got the Sub LV...the green bezel is "different" enough for me compared to the GMTc!

GMT. You'll always be able to find a pre-owned Sub if you want one or more likely pick up the new ceramic one.
