What sheepskin goes with your Rolex?

Just curious as to the schooling of folks here. I bet we will have some surprises. I'll start.

BA degree, Business Administration, Marketing Major, California State University San Bernardino, 1991.

Now how did Quincy Jones put it? Ah yes:

"I got my education on the college of the streets
Got a PhD in how to make ends meet
Inflation of the nation ain't no problem for me
'Cause I'm a scholar with a dollar you can plainly see".

Did a few years of investment banking, hated every bit of it, used all the money saved to buy a couple apartments and flipped them for profit, now I does my own real estate investment since I realized with my limited capital the most return I will earn back on my investment is by real estate. Enough to quit my day job.

Education alone does not make the man. Unfortunatelly there is no school that teaches principles, ethics, integrity, sympathy and honesty to name a few of the virtues that play a big role on who and/or what you really are.

That's very true. But that comes under the poll of "How old were you when your Mum told you it was not nice to sh@g sheep?"

Don't sell your education short, Otis! The guy that lived in the same house as I did while I was doing engineering did film and TV production. I know he worked hard at it and kept long hours just like any other student did. I know the work wasn't always easy, because I used to go on some of the shoots with him (I got sucked into a lot of things related to his course).

Then again, going out and working on lighting or editing video seemed like a break from doing physics homework! I also took a lot of psych. electives (we were forced to take a certain number of non-course related material to "round us out") and that was like taking a break too. I actually enoyed reading those books!

BS in Chem... so at this rate for your PhD your thesis will be the design and cloning of a deaf, blind, mute sheep with no teeth and very tall back legs?

Yeah, you're right, it was still a university degree, and I am glad I did it.
The most valuable thing I learnt was - There is no substitude for hard work.

I had two jobs and was doing work experience all during uni, and I graduated nicely, with every single thing handed in on time too. All the others didn't work and yet complained about how hard the uni assignments were, not enough time etc etc.....

A very important lesson I think.

I got my degree for the best reason -- because I wanted one. Those who think it automatically buys them respect, higher pay, fast cars and Swiss bank accounts are mistaken.
