Anyone recognise the guy in this car???

Firstly let me credit the owner of these pics, unfortunately I don't have his name.

Appears he was driving down the highway and whipped out his camera when he saw the car, but only realized who the driver was at the end.

For those of you unfamiliar with Jerry's "hobby", he is one of the worlds bggest and best know Porsche collectors! He has "book-ended" the 911 range, ie, the first model ever made, the most recent model, and everything in between!!!

Especially nice pics because it was a drab overcast drizly day, and the blue is just electric against this background...

PS. last pic is a t-shirt I wanted to get fr my 3 year old, but the wife won't let me! spoil sport...

Wow. Well, if that model is anything like mine, the rear spoiler comes up a 75 mph and down at 50 mph, which means that before he got caught in traffic he was speeding. Tsk, tsk.

Seriously, thanks for posting. Very cool. Oh, yea - love the t-shirt. Your wife, who I am sure is a lovely woman, is dead wrong.

They had an RS America for sale in Canepa which they claim is a Seinfeld RSA in the same color. I guess Jerry likes that shade.

Hey Jib

you are spot on, apparently he did put this car up for sale. I will have to look up the details to confirm, but I vaguely remember that it was a special build and colour just for Jerry by Porsche.

I will need to find the pics, but I think there is even a special plaque somewhere on the car identifying it...

Hi John!

Here's a link to the Seinfeld 964. It also includes the Porsche CoA as well as the registration papers which has Jerry's name on it.

That's my favorite color!

I actually knew he owns that car, it's a known factoid among the Porsche faithful. Apparently he no longer has the "LAST" license plate on it (if it was ever legally his in the first place).

Man the blue really does pop out hey?
I have to say those are some decent pics for having been taken while driving down the freeway!

There's a guy in the local car club who is a big Porsche fan and actually has driven with Jerry on few Porsche drives. Heck, Jerry has even been to his house.

Been away from mine for over 4 weeks now, having withdrawls,

Last day in the USA today, just got back from Disneyland. Exhausted, but had a fantastic time, everything from the blizzard in NY to the freeways of LA. Many highlights, including San Francisco, driving down Hwy 1 on the Californian coast, and Palm Springs.

I was a little surprised at the large number of 911's on the roads here.

Because they can't return the houses back to the banks. Car loans are personally guaranteed? Just guessing :-)

I also think it's the ultra cheap prices. I had a look at some prices in the local LA newspaper classifieds... Late model used 911 cost about $30-40K here, same car would be about $130-150k back in Aus. Shame the steering wheel is on the WRONG side of the car, otherwise I would definately have some excess baggage to deal with, ha ha!

Well, they put the engine in the wrong end, makes sense to have the steering wheel on the wrong side too

It's not that us prices are cheap, it's that Australian motorists are ridiculously overtaxed... The cars in the us cost about the same as in Germany...

Yes yes yes Chris, we import duty, luxury car tax, stamp duty (tax by another name), plus we had a historically poor exchange rate (although lately it has been hovering around parity with the US$). All up, you can pretty much TRIPLE the cost of a car here!
