Your First Rolex
I know my first Rolex was very sentimental. I posted a tread on this along time ago, without pictures. Post some pictures and tell your stories!
I remember the first time i saw a Chinatown. At that time I was a newbie, and I didn't really know anything. All I remember saying to myself was I AM NOT GOING TO GET A ROLEX 100 times, but apparently i broke that promise. I forked over $2400 and ended up with this beauty. |

My first was my 14060, purchased BNIB from an AD in Hong Kong (February 1994) while on a business trip there. I still have it !

Mine (first) was the SS White Dial Daytona. Waited on a list for 8+ years to get it...(never got the call) Remember when I walked into an AD and they happen to have one.. Forced me to by my (second) Black Dialed Milgauss in order to get the Daytona. Got my first and 2nd Rollies within seconds of each other. What a day!

Mine was an Expy II. These days I keep it on a Nato strap and use it for anything active. Today it visited the pool and had a blast.

My one and only...ladies' ss/platinum Yachtmaster. My husband got it for me in February 2001, the Valentines Day just before our 10th wedding anniversary. I've worn it nearly every day since then. It is a perfect watch for me.

I posted this a while back, but here is the summary of my first Rolex story.
I had a picture of the SS Sub above my desk for over a year... saved every paycheck for it and everyone in my office knew it was my goal. Then I had some unexpected expenses and the "Rolex fund" was gone. Saved again and had my first Rolex!! It was almost as exciting as buying my first car (and has lasted much longer). You can see on the tag how much I paid back in 2001 - well, I paid less than that but you can see how far MSRP has come in 9 year. I should have bought 2 ...lol! -Pete

Newest owner on the block. Just got a Green/Black Sub from the wife. Greatest watch I've ever owned.

Love that shot Pete!!!
Here is my Series Y Sub. First Rolex I bought (pre-owned). My Dad gave me a 1955-60 Gold Oyster Perpetual...but I don't really count that as my first since I did not buy it. He inherited it from a friend who passed away. My Dad was NOT the type of guy to throw down for a Rolex! |

My First & Only
Just got this 16613 about three weeks ago. It was a very good business year and the bonus was a very good one. I bought it for myself for meeting a personal goal.

Love that DJ Bill.
I just got a one BNIB after much debate on getting an 80's / 90's model. Prices seemed to have gone up a fair bit. I love the Super Jubilee, so I went for my first brand new Rolex! |

After years of Tag heuer frustration , I finally took a dip into the Rolex pool with an Air King.
I quickly outgrew my 34mm, but never got around to selling it since it's my first. I wear it daily as it's very comfortable and unobtrusive.

First Rolex 22 years ago--a TT DJ with the old 14kt gold and a white Jubilee dial. I paid $1800 for it way back then! Loved that watch--my intro to Rolex!!

My very first Rolex is also a very memorable one....
Bought it while I am still under some post operation depression last year and at the same time it's a week before my birthday.

My first (and only) is a black-dialed Milgauss. I wanted it for a while before I got it, but was having trouble convincing myself to spend that kind of cash on a watch. My wife ultimately got tired of hearing my talk about it, so she bought it for me for father's day one year ago.

My first Rolex was an Air King with a black dial. The AD had a Rolex club, you picked out a watch they divided the total into 12 monthly payments and you walked out wearing the watch. I was $600.00 with the tax. I wore that watch for 11 years. beat the crap out of it never and had it seviced. I was working in a high end gunshop and we had just taken in a Sub Date that was three days old that I was lusting for. I was showing a gun to a gent and he saw my watch, "is that an old Air King" Ill give you a grand for it right now. I almost broke the bracelet getting it off my wrist. I went home with a NIB Sub Date

My dad gave me his 1601 TT DJ when I turned 18 back in 1998. I knew how special a Rolex was after seeing how much pride he took in his YG DD but it has meant more to me every year that has gone by...
First one I bought myself was this year a month before my 30th bday and 3 weeks before my first child was born. I had lurked here a bit and figured it was a great time to mark the next big step in my life. The choice was a pre-loved 16610. Would love to buy a brand new watch at some point, but man do I love the thrill of the chase with pre-loved things. We are like that with cars (my dad and I share that hobby as well)...he could buy any brand new MB or P-Car he wants but he would rather hunt down "The Deal" In short, I feel very blessed that my two "firsts" were two of the more iconic Rolex watches out there....now just need to build the collection..... |
