True, super cool phone. They say release in June, that's not too far away, at least if you are in the U.S. I heard or was told it was going to be like 2008 for it to get to Australia (unconfirmed).
So I better start saving (and working), it will have to go on the shopping list with my SS GMTII Maxi dial. |

I am going to get one for the gimmick factor but I am looking forward to crossbow instead (Windows Mobile 6 smartphones) to be more practical.

If it is anything like Vista, which is an OS X clone, then Crossbow would probably look a lot like Apple's iPhone interface just not quite as good.

Bolting on a iPod to a mobile phone is not that great of a technical challenge today.Mobile phones are not hard to use because of bad interface design. They are mainly hard to use because they are quite complex devices with a huge amount of features, but in reality are they all needed.Apple are very good at making very simple interfaces, and cap off to them they have done it.But it will not need to appeal to the iPod users, it will need to appeal to the network operators world wide to take off fully, with the phone package deals etc. This iphone, will cost from $499 (£257) but the UK price looks to be around the £330 for the 4 gig, and quite a bit more for the 8 gig.Its nice but IMO thats just to expensive even for big boys toys.

Well.... Let's see.... what do I own at this very moment that is WM powered.... Samsung BlackJack (x3). WindowsMobile for SmartPhone. Cingular 8525 aka HTC Hermes WindowsMobile 5.0 Cingular 8125 (x2) aka HTC something WindowsMobile 5.0 Treo 750W (x2) WindowsMobile 5.0 HP 6515 WindowsMobile 2003 HP 6915 WindowsMobile 5.0 Siemens SX66 WindowsMobile 2003 Cingular 3135 aka HTC StarTrek WindowsMobile SmartPhone edition. Oh... also... I am a Data Master Trainer for AT&T, and I write and deliver wireless data solutions training for individuals, small business and enterprise solutions. (Good Messaging, BlackBerry BIS and BES, Microsoft Direct Push, Seven Always On, XPress mail) I have a gut feeling that I know what I am talking about. Honestly... I think that you simply did not understand my statement. I never said that windows mobile is no good. All I said is that it is NO SECRET that Vista is an OS X clone, and on that note I would not be surprised if Crossbow will to some extent copy the iPhone interface. So in the future, before you claim that I do not know what I am talking about, check your facts.

When I said WM6 interests me more because its more practical from what I have seen, that the iphone are more of a gimmicky phone, and look forwards to the wm6 debut next week. Its not really necessary for you to list every phone that you have and tell me who you work for in order to justify your feeling about the iphone. How you feel about it is your business, when I say that you must not know much about WM platform, I assumed you don't know what you are talking about when you are saying that wm6 is going to copy iphone just like vista is based off os/x, just a fair assumption based on your comment. I hope you will enjoy your iphone. Few things about the iphone that turned me off is that you can't hot swap batteries, no 3G, no real keypad. I agree its a nice pretty looking phone, but its more gimmick than practical for my purpose, no need to get too excited about my comment. |

Sometime in 2008 I believe.
In USA, Cingular as an 18 month exclusive on it. It will cost 499 for 4 gigs of memory or 599 with 8 gigs of memory. Keep in mind that it would require a new service and a contract to get that price. Buying the phone outright with no service it will probably cost more like 800 to 1000 USD. Frankly, I would not be surprised if even more than that given the "new" factor.

O.K. lets just relax....
The iPhone is like a lot of phones these days, more than a phone. Some like, some don't like. Talk about the specifics of the phones i.e. features etc. do not denigrate others opinions and moreover others in general. Now, I may not use many features that come with a lot of phones, but I will buy the phone if I like it. It's like a Daytona (or any other type of chronograph), it might have a chronograph function that I would never ever be likely to use, but I will still adore the watch for it is in so many ways a worthy device. |

LOL
cingular stores sell the blackjack for less than 200 those days. Not a bad phone at all. I wish for a faster processor though. However... let me put it this way. I own at least one or two of each phone/pda that cingular sells. At this moment I carry the BlackJack and the Pearl. That right there ought to tell you that the BlackJack ain't a bad phone!
