What a load of rubbish
England. OK we were unlucky with the goal by Lampard but we were miles short of being world class. So much for the assumption that we were to go all the way before the tournament.
We all think we are the England manager but why why why we still play football down the wing and cross the ball. I was watching this when I was watching football in the 70's and we have not moved on. Germany took us apart with the one two's and through ball. All the great teams are playing this way now so why can't England.

You should unite and have a United Kingdom team.

Referees are sh.. this world cup . England was taken the equalizer away and only just now Argentina was allowed a goal that was the most flagrant off side I have seen for a long time .

That was a horrible call as was the missed offside on the first Argentinian goal. I've seen enough horrible officiating in this World Cup to seriously question why there isn't some sort of review process in place. I know the clock never stops in soccer, but how can egregious mistakes like this be allowed to stand?

I played college baseball, not exactly professional, but when you get blatant calls that go totally against you...it really takes the wind out of your sails. The moral changes to "No matter how hard we try, these damn umps are giving every close call to the other team." There is no coach that can have you think otherwise. In a sport, such as football, where you have but one referee, it becomes very difficult to keep your spirit up when the only referee is giving close calls to the other team. Then you have the England goal, this Argentina goal, the disgrace of the two US games... and it really begs to question how this sport can continue to flourish without the use of instant replay or at least a second referee. One for each side of the field. Sorry for the rant, but I am very frustrated with my 2nd favorite sport of all time!!!!!

Maybe the UK fans need to be proding the team.
It works for us in the United States, when they start to screw up, we prod them back into line. |

Seeing as how critical the first goal is at this level of play, blowing an offside call like that is inexcusable. Clearly Argentina is a powerful side, but just giving them a goal like that is a joke.

Its not often that Jocks and Yorkshiremen agree, we may have come up with something that cannot be explained.
Although we agree, it'll be for different reasons.

Johny,
We are lucky that the Forum is in the written word. Can you imagine what it would be like if we had to understand the accents that the Yanks and the Poms have...... Also not a Jock.

Does the term "Jock" offend you? If so why?
I ask the question because I don't know the answer. Having served a long time in the military I do know that Scottish soldiers are fiercely proud of being called Jocks, I am fiercely proud of knowing some and calling them my friends.
