It is by people that like/want one.

I think so - the MG generically is a super watch, and the green crystal 'pops' IMO.

As the saying goes - "Make up your own mind":

FWIW I like all 3 Milgausses.
Is the green crystal a draw for the GV? Absolutely!

I really like the "feel" of the updated clasp on the Migauss compared to earlier Rolex bands.

Is the GV more valuable? My understanding is that it is not a limited production watch, so as noted above, buy it if you like it, not only if you plan to sell it shortly.

If you're asking about personal feelings, I prefer the plain crystal and black dial

at least a factor of 10 over the GV. To me the gren crystal looks 'hokey' and faddish, (no offense meant to those who like it).

When the Milgauss was first introduced Rolex had a production problem with the green crystals, stopped shipping the GV for a while, and they became difficult to find. People incorrectly thought that meant they were in huge demand or were a limited edition, which fueled speculation and temporarily prices for the GV were 'over list'. Now that the production problem has been solved GVs are as easy to obtain as any other Milgauss, and the pricing has settled so that discounts are available.

Thus, as far as looks, it's a personal choice. As far as speculative value, I doubt that the GV specifically will become an icon like the early original Milgauss. Those are rare now because only a few hundred were ever sold. The GV has probably sold in at least equal quantities to the black and/or white dial, perhaps even more beacuse they were seen as 'special' or 'rare' and a lotta people grabbed one for that reason.

The unique nature of Milgauss always dictated that it would be a relatively niche model among the Rolex range,.......even in its re-vamped form.

I think the GV models desirability in particular will depend on whether Rolex ends its production earlier than the other Milgauss models.......and also whether Rolex releases other watches with the green crystal.

It must be...

It has been sold out at my local AD for the past few months. As soon as they get one in, it is gone the next day.

I walked into an AD in Malibu CA yesterday wearing my GV and everyone "ooohed and aaahed." So, yes, I'd say they're still desirable. And, they did NOT have one in their case and they did have a pretty good selection: WG Sub, YG Green dial GMT, SS Daytona (black & white dial), etc.

Yes it is still desirable.. because it is UNIQUE ! Just look at the color combination of the slate black dial with orange markers & seconds hand and the beautifu white gold Rolex logo... How many watches in the world have this beautiful colors and this stunning G crystal ?

..Adding the excellent design and craftsmanship !!

I notice that the difference in list price between the black or white MG and the GV is about $800. But gray sellers of the GV seem to be asking $1200 to $18oo more. Makes me wonder if that green crystal is actually synthetic emerald instead of sapphire...LOL...

Sales for the GV have died down quite a bit, in my experience. It outsells the white and black dials, but not at the rate at say 12 months ago

Those are outstanding GV shots, guys. I love how slick it looks. The green edge just never gets old to look at.

Even if its less desirable by the general public, so be it. I believe that people who get the GV aren't getting it hoping that it will continue being popular. Imagine how desirable it will be when someday it is no longer being produced!

I owned the GV for about a month then flipped it to get my GMT IIc. I realized that I preferred sporty watches since I dont wear suits at work and it didnt get enough wrist time compared to my Omega PO. It looks good, but just didnt blend well with my casual outfit.

I still love mine, despite it getting very little wrist time, it's still a very special watch.

I desire one!

I was cold on it, then red hot, then warm...now I am heating up again. I love that this is the one Rolex that makes me go in and out of my level of desire!

The Rolexes I own were all love at first sight and have never doubted them, I am having an internal debate if the GV is next or if it's too different - this is the fun of it for me.

If you "Desire" it, it's desirable, if not, who cares what we think.

-Pete
