Considering a Deepsea? One week review
I know this horse has been beaten to death but I wanted to post my review for those considering a Deepsea 116660 because when I was debating the decision I relyed heavily on these types of reviews for guidance. I bought the watch from a reputable online dealer (usaveontime from ebay) about 4 weeks ago. I kept it in the safe for 3 weeks looking at it daily, reading the material......really just enjoying the looks and quality of the watch but not wearing it! Still wearing my titanium Swiss Army. Light watch 40mm so deepsea will be a BIG CHANGE
Day 1) Removed 2 links to get it down to fit my 7.25" wrist. Watch felt too heavy, So I tightened the band just above the wrist bone via adjustment system. I Had to readjust a number of times. Still clumbsy with the new extension system on the clasp. I had thought I had made a mistake with my purchase due to the beast factor of the watch Day 2) Looked in the mirror before heading out Into the field. It's beautiful! You cannot deny that. Weight not as much an issue. Only a few adjustments needed but I still was unsure. Day (3-5) No adjustments needed. Watch stayed on my wrist the whole day. No problems....and no comments from anyone. Which I like. Played a few games of bocce ball with it on. No problems with the weight. What I didn't like was taking it off for bed. The watch is becoming comfortable. Day 6 The watch feels like it is perfectly sized and weighted for my wrist. The matted steel ceramic dial and crystal work perfectly. I can wear it loose or tight no problems. It's comfortable.....very comfortable. Day 7 I have lunch with my buddy who owns a breitling dive watch :). He sees mine but doesn't say anything. Finally he can't take it any more and says simply , 'let me see the watch'...."12800 feet are you kidding!? Mine only goes five k.". Then he put them side by side and said in a sad sad low voice "my watch looks like a chic watch......Fvck!" I finally had peace of mind with my purchase and selection of the DeepSea BEAST. Don't think about it just get it and give your wrist time to adjust. What did everyone else go through in their 1st week? Signed, Happy as a deepsea clam. Brian |

My experience was the same, but without the watch friend. Nobody notices my watches.

Nice day by day account and happy to read a satisfied ending. My experience curve was shorter and steeper but same conclusion. In the end however the DSSD got limited wrist time due to active lifestyle and a few occaisions of accidently hitting kids heads with it....I kid you not.
The DSSD will be mine again though in the future. |

I agree with the adjusting over the first few days, but I think some of that was just to play with the Glidelock clasp.
I actually wear mine looser than my smaller watches. It can move around a little bit, but it feels right, for me, this way. I think my only negative is that the bezel rotates way too easily. It is ALWAYS at a different setting at the end of the day from where it was at the start. |

My first reaction to this watch was the price...I said to myself why would you buy this watch when you put a little more money to get a daytona instead. In my mind I convince myself it was over price and rubbish( show u what I know lol)
then my mate went to buy the sub at an AD dealer they had a deepsea in the safe, I ask if I can have a look at it...to see why? They have price it at that price. My first impression was hmm it ok then after about 10 min of looking at it with other rolex watches and others like breitling, it grow on me. It was not until my bro bought one about 3 week after that, when I went with him to get it that I knew it was my next watch. I think I like it the first time I show it, I was trying to fight it lol |

I wore it to bed last night. In the morning I looked for it on my nightstand forgetting that it was on my wrist. Ive realized everything is relative. Strap a brick to your wrist and after a week throw on a deepsea. It will feel like the lightest watch you ever wore!!!
My old Titanium watch feels like its made of rice paper. Funny how things change. |

You may want to try removing the dive extension. Due to the dive extension's length, the Deepsea is much more comfortable without. Welcome to the Deepsea club.

Can you wear it with a dress shirt?
I have a daily wear Panerai, and always have to roll up the sleeves. |

Oh boy is this a wild question to answer...
My first week owning a Deep Sea was pure bliss until I noticed on the last day that it had a pink piece of fuzz inside the dial...after a two month ordeal fighting with the AD and reporting them to Rolex... I finally got my money back. The second Deep Sea I purchased...the first week and every other week has been awesome. It's a big watch and really is awesome. I have had thoughts here and there about a few things with the watch though... Most people don't know what it is and since it doesn't look like a Sub..they probably think it's fake. Although most think Rolex's are fake anyway so that's not a big deal. I think the bezel turns too easily and I hate finding my pearl off to the side even though I centered it a few hours ago. My old SD never moved unless I moved it purposely. Last, it's a really expensive watch (at $9,250) and I feel a bit guilty having so much money on my wrist sometimes. Then again, I think that you only live once so might as well enjoy! Enjoy that awesome DS. It's a classic IMHO

maybe your friend accidentally bought one of the women's models because even Breitling's quartz models are pretty big and thick and can hold their own against the DSSD.
sounds like he's got issues. Quote:

This is quite strange, its now been a few weeks that I've had the deepsea on my wrist and it seems to be getting SMALLER as the days go on!!!! This is very odd. Anyone else have this experience?

Seriously, I have also noticed that when I wear my big watches for awhile (i.e. Breitling), they seem very large at first, then really don't seem so big after I've worn them awhile. That's probably what is happening to you with your DSSD - you've worn it so long that it now feels "normal" to you - and that's a good thing! Do any of your other watches now feel kind of small when you put them on? I've been resisting the DSSD since it came out - threads like this really don't help - I can feel myself starting to be drawn to it and my wallet getting lighter... Steve |

Sure, it is high (18mm) and heavy (214 gr) but it is simply the most superlative tools/diving/extreme watch out there. Bar none. |
