Question regarding Daytona movement!

Hi guys...

I am looking forward to picking up my Daytona tomorrow!
Although I haven't decided on what color to get yet...!

I have a few question if you could please help answer.

Is it okay to have the large Second's hand (timer) running full time? I understand that doing this would use up more power reserve, but would it damage the movement or time keeping?

Is it okay to adjust the time counter-clock wise in the Dayton movement?

Thanks you.

Kevin,
I'm no expert but think using the chrono second hand constantly would add more wear & tear, how much I don't know.
Setting the time counter clockwise should be ok.

Just cannot see the point of having the chronograph function working permanently you have the sub seconds dial for that. But although power reserve might be down 2 hours or so would doubt if any real extra wear on the movement, because of the way the cal 4130 is designed. Myself would only use the chronograph large central second hand just when I was timing something thats what the chronograph function is for.And as Dan pointed out no harm to adjust time both ways.

The chrono function in the Daytona is engaged by a vertical clutch.

This is different from most chronos that simply throw a set of triangular-toothed gear wheels into mesh with a 'crash'. The vertical clutch method only reduces amplitude and autonomy, or increases 'wear & tear', by a few small percentage points. It won't materially affect the time for required service. Rolex designed the movement with constant use of the chrono function taken into account, so feel free to use it that way if you want to.
