Think I am gonna sell my Big Pilot...

Hello all, I an a newbie to the board....kinda having a dilemma with my watches right now. I am having an urge to buy the Deep Sea Dweller...can't keep m eyes off the watch. I like my BP, but love the DeepSea. Anybody here have the Big Pilot and converted? Thoughts?

I am not a diver (or pilot for that matter)...just love the look of it.

Welcome.
The BP's a beautiful watch. I had a Pilot Chrono at one point but sold it for a Rolex.
The DS is an engineering marvel. The majority of us here will probably never reach the depths that this monster can handle.
I say go for it!
Happy Hunting!

I'll take the IWC "Big Pilot" over a Rolex Deep Sea.

I got the DSSD not too long ago. I purchased it while on vacation the very first time I saw it in person. I had no intentions of buying it or any other watch, but it was sitting in the storefront window with about 50 other watches. I have no idea what those other watches were (many of them, I'm sure, were Rolexes), but the DSSD stood so far out and above the others that I did not try on any other watch. A month later, I still can't take my eyes off it. That said, I love the IWC big pilot and that new Cartier Calibre (!). If I had to pick one, it would be the DSSD, but the big pilot would make a nice family :)

How about contacting one of the trusted TRF sellers...."Justrolexes", he is out of San Diego.

I much, much prefer the Big Pilot. It's movement is much more unique as is its styling. Then again I've never liked the DSSD and have always loved the BP. Due to the sizes of my wrist and finances, though, I only have the "standard" Pilot MK XVI, which I alternate with my Explorer II for daily wear.

The dssd is an absolute keeper of a watch...it is not one that you would flip. It takes all the glory away from my sub and gmt2c.....

I do not have a BP...I do like the watch...but I would say its one that I would be more inclined to flip if I owned it.

So....I say get the watch you really want....if the dssd is calling you then it's only a matter of time before you buckle....i do not feel you'll regret it. And it's unlikely you'll want to flip it..ever!

I have an Rolex DJ, which I got as a wedding present and an Oris F1 ltd ed. I love them both...have had the BP for 6 months now, so it is new...just not feeling it for some reason.

I may keep both for a small time to see who the victor will be...or maybe both

I tried on both before buying the BP...I had pressure from a couple IWC collector friends to buy the BP b/c of movement, brand and that I had a rolex already...

Think I will buy both and figure it out...but I think the BP may be on its way out.

The DJ is WAY too small for my wrist so gave it to my wife...thats why the DSSD is now justified

It must surely be clumsy.

Just two months ago I sold a Pilot Chrono to fund an Explorer II. Difficult decision but worth it..

Why not get both? You'll miss the BP, that's for sure.

If you prefer the dssd you should get one. Personally however, I'd prefer to keep the BP.
