SS Daytona White Face..Quick Question
Good Day Everyone,
I have a local dealer who has a SS Daytona white face Z series in stock for over 6 months. I just inquired about cost and he suggested $8500 US. Is this a good deal or can I get it for less? |

I presume its not New/Old Stock (NOS)? Its probably mint? If so, I think that's a fair price, depending on the condition. Also, depending on the Z serial, it could range from mid '06-late '07. If its a late Z, it should having the writing in the rehaut.
Good Luck! |

If it's new old stock, it's a good deal. If it's used and mint, it's still a pretty good deal.

Actually is does have writing on Rehault. No signs of wear. Would it be an insult to offer $7500? I mean it's been there at least 6 months and possibly longer. If I don't buy it it will be there at least til Xmas.

You can try. I doubt he'll bite. You're now cutting into his margins. As mentioned, I doubt it'll be there for long. |

Same thing I thought when I last visited the place 6 months ago. But I went in today and there she was sitting in the same place she was then. See the thing is, this dealer doesn't get a lot of traffic so the odds of him selling it are not good hence the $8500 price tag when all I did was ask how much do you want. I didn't even try to haggle. I'm going to push my luck and see what he says. Stay tuned...

thats a great price. once you start getting back into the older non zenith..regardless of serial no. they pretty much hold their value..you could MAYBE offer 8k..and he may meet you in the middle..but offering 7500.00 isnt a bad idea..he may be insulted...or he may say yes..always worth taking a chance..good luck. hope you pick it up! its a beautiful watch..and you wont regret it..and it will continue to hold its value..and with more price increases...it will gain a bit.

So to confirm, is this a Zenith or Rolex movement?

where's the AD?! Come on man, if that's the case then take two! He must be the only AD in the world that holds a NOS SS Daytona Z series for over six months. I've been in the Rolex world for long enough to say thats unheard of.
If he can't sell that watch in six months he must be closing down soon. Great deal! Pull the trigger as if it were Russian Roulette! |

LOL @ Cakim. I agree. I've literally been watching the watch,no pun intended, for this long. So I made sure to mention "It's still here after all this time..." I'm going back to him now to see if he bites at my offer. If you don't hear back from me that means he bit my hands off at the stupid offer!

Okay, he didn't bite at $7500 but at least I still have my hands. We agreed to $8k. Thanks again!

I would be happy at $8,500 and ecstatic at $8,000. Congratulations.

I know this is an odd situation - congrats to the OP!
Wonder how Daytona supply and demand will change as the new Subs roll out... Hmm. |

Speed: I think the Daytona will still be in high demand, as the productions are quite low compared to the subs... however - I expect there may or may not be some shifts in demand, as there are many pro and contra regarding the new ceramic bezel.
I for one, prefer the old painted steel bezel, and they're extremely easy to replace if you want to, and you can change colours too! I find it very very nice as I like to mix and match my clothes with my watches. :) So I assume Daytona demands are still stable.. I also checked the store I frequently visit, they have a New Old Stock as well of a black dial SS Daytona, Z serials, and they're asking for around USD 9,500. So I think you're getting it at a good price (the OP). :) |
