How does the watch know to change the date at 12 midnight rather than 12 noon? I have changed the date a few times at various time of the day and it always increment the date at midnight.

Some one please explain...

look at your watch at 12 noon if the date changes then your watch is at 12 midnight.

since you cant change the sun. you will have to forward your watch to the noon time.

practice makes perfect

+1.... the watch can never know it's am or pm... it is our job to set it to match the actual time zone we are located.

If your watch has the quick set date feature, it is best to set the date to the day before and then manually wind the watch for the last 24 hours and set the correct time. This ensures that you date will change when it is supposed to!

I'll help.

The date is advanced EVERY OTHER time the hour hand sweeps past 12 o'clock. It doesn't matter what time of day you adjusted the date wheel.

If you want to see it turn over at noon, set the hour hand ahead 12 hours.

To continue the serious input on this thread: Just keep in mind that you probably shouldn't change the hour hands or date for that matter on a Rolex watch between the watch being at 9pm and 3am. On GMT watches it's supposed to be ok though I've heard (but can't say for sure).

It's simple.........the date will only change once in 24 hours and at the stroke of 12 only............that's exactly how the gears that change the date have been arranged.

It's up to you which 12 o'clock you want. If you've set it for 12 noon, then it will only change at 12 noon every 24 hours......and the same applies to the midnight mark.

I suggest you opt for the midnight 12!!

I took his question to mean that he uses the quickset feature and it still always changes at midnight instead of noon, thus the "how does it always get it right" question. Though I could be wrong whereby all the smartass remarks make sense... =P YMMV

No offence to anyone but (and I'm being serious) this was probably the most intelligent comment of all in this thread. Teaches one not judge things people say too quickly. Of course that's what the OP meant (and I have to admit I didn't get it at first) and that's actually a relevant question. Which by the way has been answered above.
