New to the Family
Hello everyone,
I would like to state that I have been lurking on this site for a few weeks, every since I decided to purchase a Rolex, and I have to say that you all are a wealth of knowledge. First I want to introduce myself. My name is Ken and I ive in the most beautiful city in the world, San Diego, CA. I have been a watch freak for a longggggggggg time. I love everything about watches and my wife thinks I am nuts, LOL. I have never really been a Rolex fan so I never really followed the company. I always had great respect for Rolex with their history and all they have done to the world of watches but I never really saw a model that I liked by them. That all changed about 2 months ago. I was saving money up to buy a UN Maxi Diver when one day I was surfing the web and saw a watch that just reached out and slapped me across my face. Every since I saw this watch, it would not let me think of anyother watch. It was a demon in my soul and all I heard was this watch yelling "BUY ME". Well, last week, I gave into this demon and finially bought this watch and all I have to say "GOD IT IS A BEAUTIFUL WATCH". I am so happy that I bought it. I know this watch has been a staple of the Rolex family for decades but I never remember ever seen it before. Enjoy my pics Good Day Ken

Congratulations Ken, wonderful watch and story. It does happen that a watch will every now and then seemingly slap you across the face, or get into ones mind and go round and round, until you gotta have it
Anyway, welcome to the forum. You know you can also get many other bezels for your GMTII but only 2 other colors are factory (all black and black/red) |

Hi Ken;
Congratulations on a great watch purchase and welcome to our crazy little group. We have much in common in that I too lived in San Diego, Carlsbad, Newport Beach and Irvine (for 25 years). San Diego is a fabulous city with the finest weather in the world. In addition, I too own the GMT-II with both the Pepsi and all black bezel inserts. It's a watch to be proud of. Wear it in good health and much happiness. |

Thanks guy
The GMT is such a classy watch. This watch is a first for me in many ways: 1-Its my first Rolex, hopefully not my last 2-Its my first true manufacture 3-Its my first GMT The GMT is of great use to me beacuse now when my wife ask me what time it is in her home country (Thailand), instead of calculating it in my head (math was never my favorite subject ). I can just adjust the bezel and find out. That is so mich easier. I am very happy and I will wear it in good health. I am just happy that damn demon is out of my soul finally . Good Day Ken

Hey Ken, welcome!
Congrats on the GMT! My first Rolex was a GMT, it's such a great watch with so much history. I think it's one of the most versatile watches in the line up. Well done and beautifull photos!! |

Congrats on the GMT! I am also from San Diego! Do you have any relationships with AD's down here? My first purchase was from a AD at fashion valley? Where was yours at?

Welcome to the forum. Lovely watch. As you know, you can also just set the 4th hand to Thailand time and leave bezel with 24:00 at 12 position instead of rotating bezel.
