Now for something completely different!

As the drama/trainwreck unfolded this I what I was doing. A well deserved week off.

They don't call it the great wheel for nothing!

Loads of fun for the kids. I'm 15 min and a glass of Cab away from some z's.

Well it's only an iPhone so it's actually a water treatment plant and an old monster truck tire.

Ocean City, NJ. Safe dry beach town for the kids. It's got a great boardwalk, amusement parks for the kids, etc.
The weekends are a little too crowded but weekdays are perfect. Next summer I think we'll head back to the outer banks. I like a slower pace. The kids will have to make due with ONLY the beach, hot tub and pool.
I still can't believe I don't live on the beach anymore.

You wouldn't by any chance be staying at the Flanders ?

I've stayed there for a weekend before, but I'm at a nice little condo at 17th and boardwalk. I love the old hotels, they remind me of when I was a kid traveling with my parents. My wife on the other hand thinks we're roughing it at the Ritz-Carlton when there are no rooms at The Four Seasons.
That's what I get for marrying above my pay grade.

You're just south of the Port-O-Call, the other nice hotel in OC, but the Flanders is nicer because of the old-fashioned charm. I have a prior affiliation with that hotel.

Don't eat too much Mack and Manco's. It may look thin-crusted, but it can pack on the pounds in no time !

I think they put crack in that pizza. We get it every time we're here, sometimes twice. It's the Highland Park 18 of pizza!

Also, walk 1/2 block north of the main M & M branch at 9th and Boardwalk, try out the Stewart's. They have a hotdog called a Texas Tommy, which is basically a large HD w bacon and cheddar cheese. Sinfully delicious ! Probably 1500 calories as well !

One look at that wheel and my hands started sweating. Man ... I hate heights.

If the photo makes you sweat, you wouldn't want to see it in person. I think it's 150', and elevated so it's even higher at the top. It's quite impressive in person. It's no London Eye, but it's pretty high for an amusement park, and my kids love it.
Ever since the relocation from CA, we've been looking for good vacation spots on the east coast. My family used to do the carribean, but I'd rather wait for my youngest to be old enough to remember the adventures. The airport and plane time is also a concern with a 3 year old. Probably going to suck it up and go to Orlando this winter. We were going to Sydney, but that got canned. I would never make it that long on the plane with the kids. We actually considered business class with the kids in the back with a nanny. My wife's still going though.
Here's the boardwalk this AM on my coffee run.

I come from (born at) a seaside resort called Scarborough in Northern England, you took me back there for a brief moment, I could nearly taste the salt water spray, beautiful photography. Thank you.
