I stopped by the AD today to check out the PAM024 subs. I've only just recently started thinking about a 024 or 305. Well they had a 193 in the case. WOW!!! There's big and then there's BIG. I thought the DSSD was big but it seems dainty compared to the 193. Surprisingly, it wears well and the depth gauge complication is pretty trick. The price tag is pretty big as well

. I'm now seriously tempted. Anyone get it yet? Any opinions?

I saw 1 as well at my AD. It's a beefy monster for sure.

I don't know. I don't want any watch that needs a battery, even if it isn't for the time.

Maybe if I was a diver...

Saw one and fondled one at a local GTG...its a beefy boy and very unique...but you gotta love it..I found it a bit busy for a PAM

To (slightly) correct that statement.. the "watch" doesn't require a battery. It's fully automatic OP XV mov't COSC certified.

The Depth Gauge part DOES need a battery, and that was Panerai's choice in order to produce a METAS certified professional instrument, consistent with Panerai's history of producing Italian Navy's diving instruments.

The battery is actually only used when you turn on the dg while diving. So otherwise it should last at least as long as the reasonable interval to service the mechanical movement.

The watch is very comfortable to wear because of the dome back. My only reservation is that after you get used to the incredible wrist presence, you will look at other watches, and more often than not you'll go "meh"...

There's still a battery attached in some fashion to the watch....

Had it on the wrist at the AD and it looked great !!! Felt great !! Much prefered the black dial to the SE blue dial on this design.
