16233 came with lug holes AND without?

Hi, I'm a new member with what I hope isn't too dumb of a question right out of the gate. I recently bought a used 16233 Date Just two-tone with jubilee band. However this one doesn't have holes in the lugs. A friend of mine has a 16233 as well, but his does have the lug holes. So my question is: Was the 16233 made with the two different case types, and, if so, what year did that change? Mine was made in 2002 ("Y" serial number.

Thanks,

Randy

I believe it changed to no lug holes in the early 90s.

My X serial has lug holes. They change to no lugs in the early 2000's.

It was around 2002 end of Y series to early 2003 the non lug hole cases started to make there appearance on most Rolex models. And Y case stamp is from September 2002 to August 2003 so both are possible

In terms of the DJ, the lug holes were more or less taken out around 93/94. Thus, ref. no. 16233 would have in both flavors.
