The main hour hand is the first time zone. The green GMT hand is the second timezone and the bezel acts as the third timezone.

Rotate bezel and synchronize it with the green hour hand to adjust to your 3rd time zone.

Yup!

1) You set the 4th hand to your current (home) time zone before travelling.
2) You set the hour and minute hands to the time zone of your destination.
3) You can set the bezel to the time zone of your stop over(s), by setting it against the 4th hand.

Hope this helps.

And I guess what you mean as well Jib is that you can't display 3 time zones at once, but use the bezel to switch between your second "standard 4th hand zone" having the bezel in neutral position, and the third which is in offset to that, using the bezel.

If you go to a time zone that is 30 minutes different from the conventional hour, then you are SOL.

Now why can't Rolex word it this way in their manual. It would have prevented me reading it 15 times before I worked it out!!!
for the wisdom

lol, I hear that a lot. "I don't need a fancy watch to tell time, or keep up with time zones. That's what my phone's for."

while i've never found it too complicated to understand how it tracks three time zones, at what point will one simply decide to remember that 'city a' is x hours behind 'city b'...

i've always found it easier to remember my geography

1.Set the main hour hand to your home time. 2.Set the green hand to GMT Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). This is the same time all year around. There is no summer time and no daylight savings time. 3. Move the bezel.......... +GMT or -GMT for all other destinations that you travel to in the world, or want to know the time in those countries or cities. You can obtain the chart from... http://www.greenwichmeantime.com When you turn the bezel + or - read the new time from the green hand, which will line up to the hour on the bezel. Remember... only the hour changes when you travel.

rolex wants you to set the 24H hand to GMT time. They want that to be the first time zone on your watch.

i dont agree with that though

Not if you use a submariner to track a second timezone like my post last month! ;)

GMT IIc 3 timezones

Hi, if i understand it right...

*Say, you want to have time for..
-Local Time PDT (7 Hours Behind GMT)
-GMT
-Singapore (8 hours ahead of GMT)
(and it's 11am PDT)

*Set the 24 hour hand to point to 9 o'clock on the dial and 18 on the bezel (with the bezel set with the triangle at 12 o'clock; neutral position). So, it's 1800 or 600pm GMT.
*Now, you have 2 time zones....PDT (11am PDT) and GMT (6pm GMT).
*To get the time in Singapore turn the bezel until the 8 on the bezel is at 12 oclock on the dial.
*Now, if you look at the 24 hour hand it points to 9 oclock on the dial still , but now the bezel is 2 (and not 18, because we just turned it).
*This gives the 3rd time zone, but now you have visualize what it would be for GMT...or, you can just move the triangle back to the 12 o clock (neutral) temporarily.

I guess it's not really made to have the 3 time zones at the same time, but you can see what the time is in 3 zones.

What's good is that you get AM/PM because it's military, but if you had a non-GMT watch with a bezel with hour (1-12) markings (instead of minute markings (1-60)), you could just set the appropriate hour on the bezel to match the time zone you want and be done. With the minute markings, you have to divide by 5. Which isn't too hard, but is another step.
