The Food Channel
We are all Rolex nuts so I know most of you, like me,take a look at what watch the actor or host is wearing on the particular t.v. show ur watching. I noticed that on the Food Network Alton Brown, who is the host of Good Eat's and a couple other shows, is a watch guy. He definitely wears a Submariner and he changes it up every show with some other interesting watches. Also, one of the Dean brothers that host a show called Road Tasted wears a Submariner. Anyone know of other t.v. people that wear Rolexes regularly?? Keep it to t.v. only...no movies!!

I saw someone getting arrested on COPS for drug possession wearing a shiny TT sub.

Hey Dave,
I guess we have more in common, I watch Good Eats daily and have noticed his watch collection also. So far I made out a black sub, LV sub,and a Omega Sea master. |

Yeah he seems like our kind of guy. He's into watches, carries a nice pocket knife and rides motrcycles. Plus he cooks better than most of our wives!!

I disagree with you guys. Sure he has some nice watches, but every time I see him on that show he is wearing some kind of silver bracelet on the same wrist. Come on. If I owned a watch worth that much I'd make sure that it wasn't getting banged up with a bracelet. He could at least put it on the other wrist. Not to mention he is annoying as hell

Don't you enjoy wearing your watch? If you're that worried about it keep it in the box it came in.

There is a certain limit to how much you abuse your watch. Use it, but don't deliberately bang it around. If the bracelet looked good I'd cave on this topic But if looks gaudy and ridiculous Reminds me of a crazy Ozzy Ozbourne with his Franck Muller and 22k gold bracelet banging it :) Pissed me right off. Would you ever take your car keys and rip it down the bracelet of your sub? Because thats EXACTLY what that bracelet is doing :) |

I enjoy my watch so much I don't want it getting scratched unnecessarily. Unavoidable wear is one thing. Wearing a steel bracelet on the same hand as a Rolex is just stupid IMHO

Some people worry about the resell value. I don't really care so add me to the list of "get your money worth".

I said I disagree. Never said it's my way or the high way. I also said that there is some banging you can't help, but wearing a bracelet will certainly scratch it. I personally wouldn't do that to such an expensive watch.

If you had a brand new Ferrari, would you drive with it in 2nd gear all the time?
I rest my case. It's not that I am no one to say how he should wear his watches, it is a fact that it shows a lot about someones personality if they choose the finer things in life and do not treat them with respect. |

Watches are meant to be worn on your wrist and there are a million ways it could get nicked without abusing/damaging it on purpose(rubbing on the desk while typing, hitting the bottom of the desk when raising your arm from the arm rest, doorway nicks etc etc) just like you could get a chip on your bumper or windsheild of your Ferrari. You are not abusing either, just using them normally. Just My $0.02

Paula Dean wears a lady Datejust or similar. I'm also keeping an eye on Rachel Ray. Haven't seen her with a Rolex, but she seems to wear interesting watches on occasion. Sooner or later I bet she'll wear a Rolex, she can certainly afford it by now. Even if she's still trying to figure out how to have lunch on $5.00 or whatever...

When she does get a Rolex, I'm hoping she has the guts to get at least a 36mm. or even a Sub!

On the Dragons Den programme, Theo Paphitis regularly wears a TT Daytona with a white dial.

I have a feeling, and someone will set me straight on this I'm sure, that a great many star athletes, celebrities, etc don't pay for their Rolexs anyway. I don't know if a company like Rolex with the brand recognition they have would have to give out free watches to advertise but you have to wonder. I saw a golf tournament some time ago where they gave the winner a Rolex for him and one for his wife. I figured he already had several. While thats great, do you think he has the appreciation of it that those of us who scrimped and saved or at least researched and agonized over have? In fact, now that I think of it, they would probably pay me NOT to wear one..

Having read all of the above posts, I sometimes wonder how I can wear my watches to the full and still keep them in pristine condition?
Back on topic....I do enjoy the FOOD channel shows and, yes....have noticed a number of Rollies. Most of the time the bloody cameraman tries to play hide-n-seek with the watch, but this one guy who was wearing the Sub 16610 was blatantly showing it off....what a treat!!
