There is no NEED for a price increase in Canada. There has long ago BEEN a price
increase, on a continuing basis, in Canada. Canada's currency has risen something like 20-25% in the last 12-18 months. A Sub-c lists for $8400 in Canadian dollars, which is within 2% of being PAR with the US dollar right now, compared with $7375.00 in the US even with THEIR price increase yesterday. Rolex had better not raise Canadian prices a DIME. Do you hear that, Rolex? Got me?

I agree and i just got back from my AD and no price increases yet. Told him the americans had their increase already and he said he's going to call up rolex and ask when he should expect an increase. he was told there was something but doesn't know when.
Also got to try on the Tudor Heritage Chrono fantastic watch sits really well on the wrist it has a really flat caseback so the case lies flush with the wrist. Very nice watch. And he pulled out his new LV from the safe for me to check out and a Day Date and two daytonas, i didn't need to try on the smurf sub again nor the 18k gmt nor the wg daytona. Don't need any more temptation. |

I had an interesting experience today when I went to one of the ADs in town that was not my usual AD to find a Milgauss GV for a friend. None of the sport models were on display at the store. The owner explained that the price change was imminent (though they didn't know the exact date), and that's why they took off all the models from display shelves. They were expecting an average of 8% increase.

Can't say about the Deep Sea
But I was at my AD Friday and the ceramic sub there is retailing for $8410.00CDN.
At that price I can buy a lightly used one of the sales forum and even paying import duties and exchange be ahead. (Your milage may vary with PST/HST)

Like i said he was unaware of the price hike. And i kind of think now with our dollar stronger it might not be as severe as the states. He mentioned he was told the new models would not be raised. But let's wait and see. |

I know that it is so strange that they took out things from display. This wasn't the case when I was at the same place two weeks ago. I haven't done business with them so I don't know how much I can trust them (though i had a good chat with the owner and he seemed sincere.)
Anyway, my AD still have things on display. He said he has not heard anything from Rolex, but the price increase could be coming since the prices for the parts have already gone up. In any case, nobody knows for a fact about the price hike except Rolex Canada. So, we will have to wait and see. But, my bet is that the price increase, if any, will be revealed within two weeks. |

I guess a price hike may depend upon the distribution channel in Canada. In other words, if Rolex Canada buys direct from Rolex in Switzerland or whether they buy through Rolex USA.
I have found on some European products that if they Canadian Distributor has to buy through a US distributor, the price can be quite a bit higher than it should be. Robert |
