SubC vs. Sea Dweller vs. Panerai Pam48

Hi,

I'm new here and don't know how to make a poll, but I'm wondering your opinions on which I should buy?

Thanks,

Chris

Any reasons for 16600 SD over the SubC?

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSES!

Of those three I'd also go for the Sub. C.

Pams to me are 44MM. As to the Sub vs the Dweller, purely personal, but I favor the maxi dial, chromalite, and the improved clasp.

Both the Sub and the Dweller are amazing pieces with strong followings. Really no wrong answer.

Chris,
there are a lot of variables to consider, e.g. your body build/type, what you do for a living, lifestyle, personal preferences, what other watches you have etc, etc. Needless to say, you can only answer the question.

Some observations:

PAM48. I really like a lot of the PAMs, they are fun to wear and have an amazing cult-following, however, something like the 48 would be my last choice because PAMs are about 44mm and up. Additionally, I really don't like the PAM models with cyclops on the inside. Lastly, a 40mm model with ETA-movement isn't going to hold its value very well. There are other PAMs I'd recommend to buy before a 48, even if you don't want a watch to big, take a look at some of the new Radomir 42mm ones.

SD16600. Love'em. Got an amazing cult-following, especially here on TRF! :-) It wasn't really that popular for many years, but has really taken off during the last 2 years. It is a "traditionalist's" watch, with the thinner/classic case, virtually bomb-proof, but the whole design is a bit long in the tooth.

Sub-C. Unless you have strong preferences, this is probably 'the best buy' (esp. if you buy the one I have for sale in the FS section ;-)) The new maxi-dial/hands with the new lume is much more functional. The new case and bracelet design feels very fresh and it a very nice update. This is a perfect watch to use both at the beach, diving or at the office. Classic good looks, fantastic heritage, time-tested in-house movement - what more can you ask for?

too easy, Sea Dweller all the way. It's a cult watch, and you have to own one to appreciate it.

I owned a Pam 48. It is a mistake to get - far too small for a Panerai. I like the Sea Dweller of the choices you have - it's a classic.

16600 Sea-Dweller.
It's a winner and goes with everything. Looking at a couple ads recently it may be going up in value as well. You can get a SubC anytime you want but it will only get harder and harder to find a LNIB or NIB 16600.
The Cardinal are going to go 3 and 0 today BTW.

The Sub C would be my first choice, followed by the Dweller in a close second. I agree with the rest, a PAM should be 44mm.

Definitely the Sub C. I just received mine and absolutely love it. The Pam needs to be 44mm to be a true Pam. I have a Pam104 and love that too, but it is 44mm.
