So, I'm in Europe on a business trip and I see that because of the dollar-Euro exchange rate, and the fact that I won't need to pay VAT, that I can get amazing deals on new watches. After visiting several high-end shops in Hamburg and Vienna, I ended up with the new Tudor Heritage, which was the most beautiful of many watches I tried on, including several Rolex models and the new Panerai PAM359. I know there's been discussion about the movement, but the fit and finish and overall aesthetic appeal of the Heritage is stunning. I've never owned a Tudor watch before and I had some pre-conceived notions, but I find the quality _ on the outside _ every bit the equal of my Rolexes, and better in a couple of areas. The way the Heritage case and bracelet fit on the wrist is actually more comfortable than my Sub because the caseback is completely flat. The Heritage's curves and lines, and height of the case, gives the watch a big wrist presence. It's also quite heavy, but in a good way. It feels very substantial, if that makes sense. The dial is straight out of the late '60s-early '70s, and if you like that old-school look, this is your watch. Highly recommended, especially if you can buy one in Europe and bring it back to the States. The savings are significant.

(if you don't mind me asking, but what's the MSRP for this in Europe, and was it "easy" to haggle on the price, %-vise? I'm asking because I would like to know if it would be better for me to try to get one of these when back in Europe (where I can also get back the V.A.T) or buy one when I'm down in HK) Many thanks in advance.

The retail on the Tudor Heritage is 3,000 euros. No haggling available on the stores where I shopped. Like new Rolex models, the price is the price, period. That might change over time, but this is a brand new model, so stores won't come down in price. However, keep in mind that you get about 400 euros back in VAT if you live outside Europe, so that takes the price down to 2,600 euros net. Then it comes down to the exchange rate, which was about $1.30 to 1 euro when I bought the watch.

Thx for the info. Then HK sounds like the better choice for me (just did a quick calculation)

Very nice with the gray dial, too! The shop where I bought mine only had the black dial, so I couldn't compare the two in person. It would have been a tough choice side by side. Another point on the Heritage ... the lume is amazing. I need to take some lume photos. The hour markers light up like a torch.
