Reading the post regarding the toyota camry got me thinking. So then... the question, do you guys buy vehicles for style (aka passion, what you enjoy), or practicality (aka affordability, gas mileage, # of seats)?

I've always liked to have 'nice' vehicles, and by that I don't really mean practical. I have 2 sports cars (style) and a minivan (practicality).

all practicality. Never pay attention to gas mileage either. We love our gas guzzling Dodge Durango; plenty of room for a three kids.

Practical, but it's got to have some style or it's a no go for me. (We also have a mini-van because of the kids, traded in my wife's x5 because she wanted more convenience and cargo room. Her choice.)

Price, dependability, economy, handling, comfort, styling.

I have to be able to afford it.

I have to have a reasonable expectation that it won't require frequent repairs, adjustments, etc., and that it will last a couple hundred thousand miles. It should get better than 30 mpg on the road.

It needs to be responsive. I need to feel road. It needs enough power to deal with the demands of city and highway driving, without feeling underpowered

I have to fit and be able to drive hundreds of miles comfortably.

It shouldn't look ridiculous.

I am all for practicality and reliability in cars. I prefer to spend money on other items. For me, as long as a car is reliable, safe and gets great gas mileage, I am happy with it !

My wife had a BMW 750IL. She wanted an SUV. I made the horrible mistake of BUYING (I always lease) a Ford SUV. Biggest pice of crap in the world.

I will be trading it in for another BMW as soon as I can brake even. I wanted to jump on the "Buy American" bandwagon and got bit right in the ass.

German from here on out, in this household.

Not bad for a family sedan that beats a Boxter 0-60.

Inexpensive, but durable auto........I prefer to spend my $'s on watches, clothes, books, music, food/wine/dining & travel/vacations.

My wife has a Honda Odesy to haul the offspring.

I have a 00 Honda accord to drive around and gain mileage. It gets good fuel, and does the job.

I have a Jaguar XJ8 to drive on the weekends.

They all serve their purpose, but still fairly practical.

Practicality.

Must have manual transmition, a turbo for kick, plenty of storage space, and at least 30 MPG.
