should I?
Have been thinking lately about flipping two of my watches for either a 5513 sub or a 1675 gmt(either one from the late '70's or early 80's). is it worth it to go from new to old? what are the pros and cons of doing this?
thoughts? |

I just did that exact same thing.....
I sold my 14060m and my 16600 to purchase this....
A 1665 circa 1977 .....One of the best moves I've ever made..... The modern watches are fabulous...But they are a dime a dozen...... You've seen one you've seen them all (For the most part) But the vast majority of vintage pieces take on a life of their own......Different patinas, dial configurations, different degrees of polishing...... Also, on average, vintage pieces appreciate in value much faster them modern watches....If that's a concern..... If money were no object, I would never have sold my modern watches, but alas that isn't the case.....If I have to choose between the two...Vintage all the way..... |

I wouldn't sell these two. Instead just save up for the vintage. You can find good examples around $5k.

thats the idea i've been leaning towards. i dont have the money to outright buy a vintage watch, thats why i've been toying with the idea of selling two of them for a cool vintage piece. great watch by the way.

Once the vintage bug bites, people have been known to move heaven and earth to feed the itch (see Yazo )
I would trade the YM for a 5513, and then save up a bit and trade the Sub + cash for a 1675/ 16750. Hope this helps.

If going vintage is what makes you ultimately happy, then do it.
