date 2 in steel ?
Little bird told me that Rolex is planning a limited edition of Date2 in steel. Is anyone here knows if this is true or not ? It might be some sort of a local event in Europe, or complete false, I can't tell. Please share your thoughts.

If you mean Daydate 11 in S.steel very very very very very unlikely,Daydate have always been precious metal watches with Rolex.

One surmises that the gentleman is referring to the Datejust II. If it were available in SS that would obviate having the fluted bezel, of which I am definitely not a fan. I could in fact be interested in a DJII in SS. The 41mm case would be nice to have.

the only thing that is gold on the DJ II is the bezel right? Whats the big difference if its in SS... still same color and shape right? or is the price difference big?

But it would be nice to see this same watch in FULL SS with a domed steel bezel.........in which case there would be a substantial drop in price over the SS/WG bezel one. JJ |

Present lug-width of the DJ2 is 21 mm and the current SJ bracelet has a lug-width of only 20 mm. I wonder if Rolex will think its worth their while and marketing to introduce a 21 mm lug-width SJ bracelet!! JJ |

I guess we will just have to wait and see what Rolex comes out with. But a DateJust II in stainless steel would be cool!!!

Day dates are always in gold or platinum. I'd bet my bottom dollar this isn't changing any time soon.

They did a couple of prototype steel Day-Dates in either the 60s or 70s, but I seriously doubt they would introduce a new Day-Date or Day-Date II in steel, it would undermine the perceived exclusivity of the model.
