Info needed: Identifying a 68273's authenticity

My mother-in-law just took out a mid sized E series DJ from her safety deposit box and asked if it's authentic.

Being not an expert it's hard for me to determine. I took out the bracelet to take a peek at the serial. It's a Rolexor dial with diamond indices.

It's an E series in a very bad condition. The crystal is chipped. The bezel has been changed to a gaudy ruby + diamond not to mention the crown is way rounded from abuse.

between the lugs at the 6 o'clock it reads "STAINLESS STEEL E737**4" and at the 12 o'clock it's "ORG ROLEX DESIG 68273"

but it's without pinholes. so when did the pinhole dissapear for this model?

any help would be fully appreciated.

tried out the movement...hacking still works...same as the manual winding and also the quickset date too... abeit the second hands looks abit slower than my wife's Airking right now.
