Need Big Time help 6298!!!

I have a 6298 which was the Dress Version of the Explorer I when first introduced. I have combed the internet and can't find one like this. The word Explorer is not on the dial. This watch is completely original, I am about to have it cleaned up. Can someone help me with the history on how the word Explorer could possibly be missing, remember this is a case # 6298, not a 6352 or 6350.
The dial is a honeycomb dial and under Rolex is says "Oyster Perpetual"
and above the 6 o'clock it says "shock resisting" inside case back is "II 56"
The radium is still very nicely intact.
Anyone have an answer on why the word "Explorer" is missing on this vintage 6298??
