ATTEN: Jed. Geneva and Case Polish DRSD chamfer edge
This fellow sent a couple of watches (1665 and 1680) to Rolex Geneva. They installed nice service red dials. He states they did a complete refurbish so I take that as a case polish as well. I remember you saying that Geneva was the only place that can put the correct chamfer edge on one of these classics. However, unless my eyes are missing it, it appears there is no sharp defined chamfer on the DRSD. Any idea why this is the case after service from Geneva? Or is it just the picture angle?

A complete service does not necessarily mean that they polished the case....Most vintage owners will in fact ask Rolex NOT to polish the case.
This could in fact be the case.....LOL |

Its picture angle. The chamfers are there, though not as pronounced as on some other mid casings...

He states they did a complete refurbish so I take that as a case polish as well... not neccessarily...
all of the above ...like when i was talking to dw2...photos, head on and side on, can quite often hide the chamfer (now im even calling it that :) ) and i think it is there - specially seeing as ive seent he watches ...but as also stated eric knows enough about vintage that if the cases were in good condition he'd ask for a light polish only / or not at all .....to preserve the case longer.. |

Hi Jed, Am I mistaken that I saw these sub “T” dials in a 70-80’s US AAFES Px catalog many years ago? -- Also, with these service red dials, is Geneva the only place you can get them? Thanks |

So if I'm reading this right, red and double red service dials still exist.
Jed: talking about Rolex UK, if you sent a vintage piece in and specifically asked them for a light polish - would they honour this request instead of just giving it say a normal standard polish |

yes ..do it all the time on comex and mils 9althoug usualy just instruct no polish)...and in fact quite regularly on others...the bexley edge is great but if its a neat tidy fat case..no point wasting metal.

Thanks One other question, is Bexley able to just reapply the satin finish to the top of the lugs, or do they have to polish the whole case - i.e follow the full process |
