Try to find a 6451 for sale. I know of one that sold at Tiffany's for $150. When your tired of that look for a 1019, you can find these, the last one I found no box and no papers sold for $34.000.
Now look for an Explorer, other than a Steve McQueen and try to find one in this price range. My point is in the long run the 116400 will not only hold it's value more but will all ways hold the history of the Milgauss..

Close one, but I'd go for the Milgauss.
It has more color on the dial, has a heftier feel because of the dual case and I like the lightning bolt hand. |

I would go for the Explorer, it sits a little lower on the wrist, its substantial without being too heavy, and a little more understated

I was at my local AD tying both of them watches on. In my opinion the explorer was much more comfortable and the dial was amazing. Buy the explorer.

Tough choice. Would be easier if Rolex made the Milgauss bracelet brushed...
When I have tried on the Milgauss, I have been pretty surprised at how low it sits so I'm not sure its height or how it sits on the wrist should be an issue here. |

I'd go with the Explorer, but I'm biased.
I never really liked the lighting bold second hand on the Milgauss. |

I like the Milguass better but I wish the bracelet was brushed and had a flip lock.

milgauss no contest.
Although the explorer would be more comfortable because it lighter and has a slimmer profile...the milgauss has a great design IMO. Really like the lightening bolt seconds hand :-) |

My vote is for explorer if you want a more "tool" watch.......milgaus is sort of a dressy look for a "tool" watch.

I'm not a fan of the new Explorer, or the new size. I know the changes are not major but they were enough to change the overall look. I don't think they should have messed with a good thing, IMHO.
I would go with the Milgauss. |

116400 if you can go pass the lighting bolt hand.
Tried the 39mm EXP today... It didn't sing to me. It is a simple and handsome watch though. |

You won't grow tired of the Explorer in a couple years. While the orange highlights and bolt hand excite some people, they are not classic at all and I can see the novelty quickly wearing off. The Explorer is also more comfortable.

In my opinion, Milgauss for sure.
The hands on the Explorer don't look right on that style watch. The hands on the Milgauss compliment the dial. The dial on the Explorer: oversized 3,6,9 triangle? Seriously? The Milgauss dial is more symmetrical and aesthetic. I like the polished look better, it's a more modern and classy look in my opinion. Unique crystal and second hand make the Milguass one of a kind in the watch world. "instantly recognizable" |

Interesting question. I owned a blk dial Mil for a few years. Got it very early after they were released. Nice watch, heavy, stands out, easy enough to read, a bit top heavy. Just never really liked it enough to keep, felt like I was wearing a beacon on my wrist, especially at church.
Tried on the 39mm Explorer the other day, really liked it, nice size and comfy, easy to read, stealthy. The Mil bracelet is good but doesn't have the flip lock, this always bothered me. I like the Exp bracelet better. For me the Exp would be the better choice. More comfy, less top heavy, flip lock bracelet. Whenever I looked at the Mil my eyes were always drawn to the second hand, not because of the bolt design but because of it's bright orange color. |

Milgauss for me. I prefer the hefty double case and the lightning bolt seconds hand

Why would you need to have a watch that is protected against magnetic fields and is noticeably heavier?
go for the Explorer |
