Mini get together featuring Yazo and the Frogman

Met up with a fellow member Sunny aka Yazo to go watch hunting on a seasonably warm November Saturday and what a great day it was.

If you didn't already know Sunny recently acquired a 6263 Daytona which I have been dying to see and he graciously let me handle it throughout the day which was the highlight of the day.....well accept what happen at Tourneau which I will explain later. I would like to add that Sunny is a great guy, down to earth and fun to hang out with and a guy who knows his vintage watches. His 6263 is one of the finest examples out there!

Moving on, we went into Georgetown and met John a friendly vintage dealer who offered a 1680 red which was in great condition but I forgot to take photos of it so sorry guys. But we did find a few other watches, enjoy...

Sunny's 6263 and my GMT IIC

on my wrist!

A nice 5513 with great patina

Pre moon speedy and 120m seamaster

Sunny's amazing meters first 5513 with an awesome faded bezel insert and 9135 bracelet

So back to the Tourneau story, well on our way out I happen to see a 5513 meters first sub sitting in the window so we walked back in to check it out. Condition was good and it had a new 91350 bracelet which was ok I guess so naturally asked how much? She flipped over the tag and calmly said in a straight voice its $13,500.00. I looked at Sunny and we both chuckled and immediately Sunny asked if they would buy his 5513 for anything close to that price which made me laugh even more. Well she brought over what appeared to be the manager and he took a photo of the watch and took Sunny's information and proceeded to tell us it could be worth anywhere from 2k to 13k. Bottom line Tourneau has no idea about vintage watches...

The day would not be complete without seeing a F430 Ferrari

AWESOME DAY!! David is a standup guy and very cool... nothing but great things to say about him... hope to meet up with you buddy on that NYC trip (maybe even that SF trip if I can convince my new wife)!!! Can't wait for you to get that DRSD dude - we'll DEFINITELY need to take some group-collection shots!!!

David you definitely know a ton about vintage as well - it was great finally being able to talk to someone knowledgeable about the subject. My wife is about sick of hearing me talk about patina, super-domed crystals and faded bezels!!!! HA!

I dunno about you David, but I had a GREAT time @ the vintage shops - a lot better than the new ones... it's amazing the customer service was so different when you compare the new versus modern shops! The vintage spots treated us like kings... even gave us drinks, free NATO bands and some GREAT conversation!!

If there's anyone else in the DMV area - PLEASE respond to this thread so the next GTG y'all can join!!

I only wish every day could have been like today... perfect weather... perfect venues... perfect conversation... and perfect watches!!

I'll make sure to keep everyone abreast about what the big T offers for my meters 1st... if it's anything over 5k I'm all in!!!!! HAHA!!

Only if I was home, I would've loved to meet up with you guys. I'm originally from Columbia, MD but I'm currently stationed overseas. Looks like you guys had a blast. The picture with the Ferrari; it's look like you're driving on 295? I could be wrong. :)
