5513: To buy or not to buy
Thank you all for the Reb Sub on eBay comments/feedback. I have just been offered a 5513 Maxi dial (1981) in excellent condition for 400,000 Japanese yen or roughly $4300 US. I have attached photos. It was serviced in 1996 by Rolex Japan and comes with that overhaul paperwrok (Rolex Japan). I know the owner...one of the top Japanese private collectors in Japan. Is it a deal? Why or why not? I need to reply within the next few days.
Thanks, David in Japan |

Just told the owner I would take it. Will pick it up later this week. He has 3 other great looking items he just put up on Yahoo Auction Japan:
http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f98310133 http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m78514018 http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/136900002 Would kill for the DRSD. What do you think of the price for that ($22,000 US.) Cheers, David |

Sugoi desu ne?
I will likely buy my next watch in Japan. As a general rule, all second hand watches I see are in such beautiful shape. The vintage watches at Jack Road looked wonderful. Your 5513 looks MINT! Yoroshiku! |

Gorgeous. I wish I could find the same in a 1978; and to think I was just in Tokyo!
