To sell or not to sell....
I have a K serial SeaDweller in pretty good condition but needs a new crystal and to be serviced. I have an offer on the table and wouldn't mind selling but do y'all think that I should keep it? Or would you recommend selling it and buying a GMTIIc? SubC? or DSSD? Thanks for your help!

If it no longer makes you happy......
Just remember they're now discontinued, so acquiring another in mint condition later may be tougher. Good Luck! |

I'd get it fixed and keep it. Its a classic. Then, I would save up and buy a more modern watch - the GMTIIC for instance. Different functionality!

If you don't go head of heels over a new model, I would keep it. Unless there is something you just must have, and you need to make a few sacrifices, then sell...

If you want a different model, sell it. There will be no shortage of the 16600 IMO--Rolex made plenty of them and if you decide to acquire another, you'll be able to find one (mint-or NIB will of course command a premium).
I love my SD and would certainly not trade it for a new Sub C or GMT IIc. Service and a new crystal will cost maybe $600? Then it will be like new. |

I had the same dilemma, I have a 14060M, Explorer I and Explorer II, plus my PAM 177 love all of them but something was missing!!! then I decided trade the SUB and Explorer I for a SUB C. LOVE it and where it everyday, Do what makes you happy!!!

You said, "and wouldn't mind selling". Sounds like you know what you want to do already. If you sell, get your money out of it. Sea-dweller 4000 have really appreciated in the last six months. Point being don't sell it for a song. You may even want to first fix it up and then decide. Personally, I'd fix it up, and keep. Crystal is $180 at Rolex dealer; service for $400 by an independent. I assume the offer is below $600 of market value for a K.

Be careful out there, the SD 16600 comes with a weird and scary power : once you sell it, you'll find yourself wanting it back !! I've been there and all the other SD owners I know have been there too,we all had to buy it back.
