Icon20 First ROLEX - My Black Friday Purchase

I went to the mall in Miami Friday morning looking to buy a Rolex Deepsea or a S/S Platinum Bezel Yacth-Master since I been wanting a Rolex for a couple years now. Just turned 30 I figured this was the best time as I was dreading leaving the 20's. I start talking to the sales lady and she pays me no attention until I start talking about the watches in detail. Anyways I start telling her that I been wanting a S/S Daytona with a black face for a couple years now but I couldn't find one at list price. She says wait right here I will be right back, so long story short she comes back with a S/S White Dial Daytona that she said came in that morning and she sold it to me at list price 10400. Although I wanted a black dial daytona I am okay with the white.

The only thing that pissed me off is that when I started looking for this watch the list price was around 7800... What the hell happened in the past couple years? Why did the Daytona increase in $$$$ so much???

If any Daytona readers see this thread do you wear yours on daily basis??

The price has gone up, but on a positive note Daytona's hold their value. In a few years you can look back and say, "Thank goodness I bought my Daytona when it was only $10K." Let's see some pics.

Hey I had one more question... I was looking around the forum and noticed that people have both tags that came with the watch (the Rolex round one and the Price tag one) but the Authorized Dealer took and kept the price tag. Do you think I should ask for it back? She told me they keep that one when i asked for her to leave the tags on.

Congrats, wear your Daytona in good health. I wear my white SS Daytona on a daily basis. Welcome to TRF. Best of luck at being able to stop at just one Rolex. I will be picking up my third one tomorrow....... You can always ask for the second tag but this is standard practice for most AD to keep the second price tag (I was able to keep both of mine after asking the AD).

Dave, what did you mean by "second tag"? Your Rolex came with 2 plus the Rolex round one? Or you meant to say the AD only give you one tag which is the one I got. I dont know if i am stressing about this for no reason because I dont plan on ever selling it but I do plan to hand it down to the kids one day and maybe having this will provide some more value????

Nice!

Wait and see what the retail goes up to in another few years. You'll be happy that you bought when you did. Congrats on the Daytona!

Get your tags!!!

You should be able to show your purchase receipt to your insurance company the watch is brand new. You don't news an appraisal for a new watch. Replacement cost is what you paid.

Congrats!!
