Thanks Dan. It's not an easy one to get hold of these days (the blue hands and markers are gorgeous in the right light though), and I switched the bracelet for the strap yesterday to give it a different look.

Happy Sunday

While they are all nice watches I don't think we need a WRUW everyday. Please remember the forum has only limited bandwidth and bandwidth is quite expensive.

Seriously?
Alot of people are paying to support this site and now they cant get to post a simple WRUW thread?
How much band width can a thread like this take? Most of the pics shown are usually hosted by flickr/photobucket etc.
Why not just set a limit to how many posts people can post in a day while you`re at it?
I really like the WRUW threads, at least it brings something to the forum rather than the x amounts of "oh my gosh I just scratched my rollie, RSC next!" threads...
Had to get that off my chest, back to the thread at hand.

Surely the answer is to limit the file size of attachments and thereby encourage people to use a hosting service such as Flickr, Photobucket, etc? I believe I'm right in thinking that image URL's make use of the host's bandwidth, not this forum's?

I tend to agree with the earlier comment that many of the threads are similar and that these photo extravaganzas add some interest for those of us that like looking at watches!

We can have it all. I'll start attaching pics from photobucket from now on [especially since I'm a pic hog].
Po' man's Daytona strapped to carbon fiber.

And now I can add captions to pics.

I'm reluctant to 'get into it' with a mod' but with respect I was kinda shocked to read this.

Besides which surely JJ's continuing absence frees up more than enough bandwidth these days anyway?!?

We've been having these threads for years, Peter, so I respectfully disagree. If it's an issue, make a rule. Someone posted that a lot of people pay to support this site, and that is 100% correct. That should count for something.

One thing people could do is delete the images when they reply, so as not to duplicate photos throughout the thread.

Amen to that, John! I've been ranting here for years about folks who quote entire posts including all the images. Its usually nice to see a new thread with a series of pix, but by the time I've scrolled to the bottom of the page and seen the same series of pix 5 times, it starts getting tedious.

It doesn't take a lot of skill or effort to edit your quotes, folks.

I've only one watch and have participated in this kinda thread only 3 or 4 times in the past 10 months and it mainly depicts what I've been up to during the day.
Most of the pics are pretty small anyway, imo, about 200kb

As an IT Geek I do understand what is at stake here. Every picture we upload we take away valuable storage which can be costly depending who is hosting it. May I make some suggestions on how we can try to free up space?? Just a few thoughts anyway. Here they are:

1/ Delete old WRUW threads older lets say more then 2 months old??
Free up valuable disk space. (unless this is already done)

2/ When we reply to posts with pictures attached, in the reply should have the picture removed (as this will ensure we are not wasting storage and keep seeing the same pic on the same thread 10 times)

3/ Upload feature to be available to paid members only?? As we have mailbox restrictions, upload restrictions should apply as well.

4/ I as a user should be able to delete any picture upload. This is not allowed.

Just a few thoughts anyway.

John
