Greetings From Canada - Inherited A Rolex Watch
This is my first time posting on this forum..
I inherited a Rolex Watch about 10 years ago and it's been sitting in a box on my desk for many years. I did some research on it and it looks to be a Rolex Oyster Ref 1500. I popped open the lugs on the band and that's what it said. I also have a 300 meter anchor, I don't know if it came with this watch or another. My uncle was a watch collector for many years and these are two items I managed to get from him. I believe the watch was purchased in the mid/late 70's.. I have attached pics if anyone can let me know a little bit more about it..even if it's worth much. |

Welcome.
IMO it's worth about $1,000 PS. Please try to minimize your pictures, I'm getting all dizzy scrolling sideways. |

Where are you from in Canada? I'm from Kingston. Very beautiful watch. I would of probably inherited my dads 80's Submariner. She was a beauty. He sold it and bought a TAG. I'm only 14, so I've got my whole life ahead to buy a Submariner.

Do you have any bigger pics? :
It's definitely worth something, it's just a matter of how much. If it's been sitting in your drawer for the last ten years then it is probably in need of a service. While the initial service will cost, it will ultimately increase it's value (mainly because of the service papers that you'll receive and the fact that watch will be in as new condition). As someone already said, as is you'd probably be lucky to get around $1000. However, once it's been serviced you might get as much as $1500-$2000 depending on your luck. As for the anchor, here's a site with some great information on the history Rolex anchors. Btw, the anchor did not come with that watch. http://www.rnoud.com/index.php?optio...d=41&showall=1

This site is not a personal shopping arena.
You cannot infer or ask with the intent to sell a watch or watch related item on these boards without going through the proper rules this site uses. The offer of, or for sale of, any item must be posted in the 'For Sale' section and abide by the proper guidlines... Otherwise, asking where to find buyers is skirting the rules and is not accepted!
