whats the difference between the two straps? apart from the clasp they look the same but are sold for deployment or tang buckle?

Deployant strap are thinner to fit the buckle.Tang buckle straps are thicker on the tang end.I much prefer the tang buckles.

Not sure I follow 44 Jewels.

The polished deployants get scratched - like any buckle. I prefer brushed.

i like buckles more than deployants. i always have some wrist expansion and it is very easy to adjust a buckle

As to wear, the deployment straps get soft much faster than the regular buckle straps. Depending on your taste, this may or may not be desirable.

Personally, although I find Pannerai OEM straps to be of excellent quality, I have come to prefer after market straps. Big, long thick ones, with big fat buckles.

Put a GSD Crazy Horse (I, II or II) on for just 10 minutes and you will know what I mean. Then save your OEM ones for dressy occasions or to enhance the resale of your watch when you are ready for a change.
