Storing my rolex

Ive been on a military watch bender lately and not wearing my Rolex watches, I have two of them, I dont have winder boxes, is it fine to just store them away in a safe place not running for long periods of time, even a year lets say, without touching it?

Please advise with health of my watch in mind.

I dont mind winding it resetting time and date etc when I do decide to use it so a winder isnt needed for me but I dont see myself wearing them for a while with my current very casual lifestyle and I just want to put them away for future use or to hand down to kids later, IS IT OK TO STORE THEM NOT RUNNING for long periods of time and then just wind them up and use them later should I desire to? Are there lubricant issues with this? Etc

If its not moving its not wearing out , modern lubricants don't try out so you can store them piece of mind

This was my logical conclusion as well makes perfect sense and thanks for taking your time to chime in, I appreciate that, my good man.

But the oils inside still dry up... So no moving does not mean it will never need a service.

It's a good idea to wind them once a month or every other month to get the juices flowing.

Moving or not I would service once the time starts to be off

I've seen this subject discussed many times before. There's always 2 groups of thought. One is no problem to leave it alone and the other includes some thought to a potential "oil drying" issue. The lack of movement would have no affect on evaporation rate of any liquid regardless of viscosity. An argument can be made that movement of any kind increases surface area exposure to surrounding air resulting in an increased evaporation rate. Either way moving or not you can't hurt your watch and you should always consider servicing at reasonable time/use intervals.
