Most collectable current day rolex?

Are there any current day rolex's that you all think may be collectable in the future. I have seen a few threads mentioning the white milgauss potentially. Any others? Thanks

None, way to mass produced these days.

If you want collectable, look at other brands that offer more limited numbers with a cult following......Panerai maybe.

I'm sticking with the white Milgauss. None of the other watches in the range have the magic combination of backstory, uniqueness, and inability to sell

I'm with you on this one Chris, the milgauss looks to be one of the range that nobody really buys. Which model i do not know, but i only like the white dialed version.

Well I kind of agree with above it's going to be a low selling model but can't really see it being the same as our true vintage collectabilty about today.

Myself buy Rolex watches to wear and don't think about will this or that become collectible in future.I would doubt if any Rolex made in the last 10 years would be classed as collectible to a true real watch collector.

I'm in the camp where I believe so many were manufactured of each model that in our lifetimes there will not be any modern collectables!!!

I'm guessing the sea-dweller( not the deepsea) and the Sub LV (not the ceramic)

If a NOS piece counts (and not only currently produced models), then just like Barry said, my vote goes for the SD and the original Sub-LV.

Also, on the basis that noone seems to buy it, my other guess would be the YM II.

But to make a really collectible watch, Rolex would need to issue a limited edition, or stop the production of a specific model after just 2 or 3 years. Even the 7 years run of the original Sub-LV was too long for a "limited" edition.

I can't see the Sea-Dweller 16600 being a collectible, the production ran for a very, very long time, and it was a popular watch. The run on the LV was shorter, but still a full seven years, and again, it was popular. You have to apply inverse logic to collectible Rolexes. Why, for example, is the manual wind Daytona so sought after? Simply because they didn't sell originally

Some sellers have been pushing this combination as a future "collectible" and asking prices $1500+ over MSRP. While I'd personally love to have a GMT with a 3186 movement, I've seen several skeptical posts on TRF about these holding their value due to minimal differences between the 3185 and 3186 movements. So, yes, it is a debate.

The LV was never a limited edition it was just a anniversary model to celebrate 50 years of the sub.As for the SD well thats not changed since the introduction of the cal 3135 in 1988 except for non lug hole case and a few minor fonts must be quite a few SDs in this world today.

I know. What I wrote should have been written as:

Even the 7 years run of the original Sub-LV was too long to be considered a "limited" edition.

BTW, I deliberately put the limited word between quotation marks.

In either case , it becomes a passive /no enjoyment " investment " , no ?

As stated earlier, better to make prudent investment of current rare vintage , if that's your thing- the potential payoff is much sooner.

IMO, no current Rolex can seriously be considered collectible, not even the discontinued SD, Sub, Sub LV or GMTs.

But I agree with Chris (GMT Master) that you have to apply perverse logic when it comes to collectible Rolexes and identify models that are unpopular/poor sellers as being possibly the most collectible. This was the case with the original Daytona, Milgauss and Explorer II which fared badly when they were in production but are today in high demand because there are simply too few in circulation.

Going by this logic, the white Milgauss might qualify; however so might the colourful white gold Daytonas, Turn-o-graphs and Leopard Daytonas..
