Oh Lord....give me strength!!

I suppose the BIG question on everyone's mind is what is JJ going to flip or buy next?

If my mind can strongly rule over my heart and the cleavages, I'd be more than happy to wait until 2007 (when of 2007, I cannot say) for my beloved and heart throb - TT Daytona with rhodium dial.

So what's gonna happen between now and then??? That is the BIG question!! I wish somehow I had a crystal ball in front of me and could fortell what was in store for me in 2006.

Yesterday, I was discussing the TT Daytona with Zemina who also seemed to like it (she loves TT watches too); but seriously told me not to flip any of the ones I have in order to buy that. "Only buy the TT Daytona when you really can afford it, but not at the cost of either the YM or the Exp."

Nice, sensible comments (I wish) welcome please! Thank you!!

You already got your sensible comments. Do you really think we would contravene anything Zemina suggests? You really would be crazy if you thought that.

I wish I could get it now. Mansor's already has one waiting and willing to be grabbed just sitting there amongst all that gorgeous and eye-filling cleavage!!

But, due to other financial priorities, I have to wait until 2007 at least. The TT Daytona isn't exactly as cheap as the other SS sports Rollies.

Can't wait for you to get one. Are you also after the one with the rhodium dial?

Well, the list price on the TT is NZ$18,000; but out-the-door price is NZ$13,000.

Don't know what the list price on the SS is, but out-the-door price is NZ$15,000. Go figure.

Why does the SS Daytona cost more than a TT?

Now that, my young friend, is the most sensible question I've heard in a very, very long time...in fact, it's a question I've been asking myself all these years.

Why anyone would want to pay MORE for an SS watch with the SAME damn movement and lose out on all that precious, SOLID 18 K gold is beyond my comprehension!!!

It's this psychological thing about the SS....Lord knows what it is....but, believe me, if you place any SS Daytona (be it black or white dial) next to the TT Daytona I've pictured above, the SS will just fade away!! Trust me on this one, guys, I've done it.....the SS doesn't even stand a chance near the TT!!!!

Simple supply vs demand. Lots of demand for the SS Daytona with less supply. Of course Rolex doesn't do this on purpose!

That, of course, is another valid reason. Why? I'll never understand...but valid nevertheless!!

Hey JJ,

With the price differences between the two it would be a no brainer for me.I would go with the TT in this model as it would be a dress watch.

If I were looking to flip a Daytona obviously the SS would be the go,but I am not,so I am with you on this one JJ.

JJ: I like the blue faced YM SOOOOO much better than the Daytona you're proposing. I realize the heart wants what it wants, but this is my $0.02...

My TT Blue YM is a keeper, Tim. The TT Daytona is very stunning if you see one in the "flesh"....that's a long term proposal.

To the best of my knowledge, Steve, the meteorite only comes in WG. I'm not sure it would look anywhere near as good in TT. And frankly, the meteorite looks best with the black or brown strap. The bracelet just doesn't do it justice. Having tried them all on, I'm speaking from first hand experience.

The meteorite is the only Rolex left that I would really like to have. I will say the JJ's desired TT rhodium dial Daytona is a very nice looking watch, and IMO, it's much nicer looking than the black dial, white dial, or other dial colors. But it still doesn't hold a candle to the meteorite on a strap.

as i mentioned i did think that "Pleasure Costs" but it may well be a long..... wait if that is to be my next , i do concur with all your comments though , with the strap as well as looking more dressyIMO the focus is on the watch face and i think the meteorite/roman numeral dial is stunning and would look great on a black strap another stunning combination i think is the black MOP with the gold roman numerals, looking on the bright side should be cheaper on a strap??

thanks

I’ll present a analogy to this. Yesterday I went on an all day quest to get me an iPod Nano 4GB. In the Apple store (I was their first customer for the day) they just smiled. No more Nanos, the whole stock of a 100 went the day before in 40 minutes. All the stores I went to and called (today as well!) are out of stock because of the poor supply and unbelievable demand.

This Nano retails here for €259 but at some point I found myself thinking that I would offer €295, just to get one. Then I regained my senses. I’m on a waiting list now. That’s how it is with the SS Daytona. It’s just fever!

Take care,

Frans.

Maybe we could get our resident Ph.D economist, Dr. Finwhiz, to explain the law of supply and demand to you.
