Recommendation for a leather band?
I dropped by the AD today to see if I could order a Rolex leather band for my 1680-8 sub and was told that Rolex never made one. In view of this, it looks like I need to turn to the aftermarket. Anyone have any recommendations on brands or sources? I'd like to find a high-quality brown strap that suits the look of the sub. IMO, a thick band with some coarse stitching would probably be fitting. Thanks.

I like the Tiffany Sharkskin if you can find it in Brown. It is similar to the Tudor Sharkskin that comes with the Chrono. Works well with my Tudor Sub. This is a brown Hadley Roma Sharkskin on my Speedy Auto This is a Stuller oiled calfskin on my 16753 |

what utter nonsense ..Rolex supply all manner of leather straps and buckles(both sold gold and plated). the 1680/8 was supplied into several south american markets only available on leather....usual AD bollocks...
that pic i sent you earlier on the other conversation ..thats a Rolex croc leather on 18k buckle ordered from Rolex Uk for the watch... |

Thanks Michael. Nice examples!
Jed, I should have known! These guys are so clueless, especially when it comes to vintage. Thanks for the info. |

I have a "paper" vintage brown strap with Rolex buckle on my 6262 and he is making me a black "paper" one now for my 6241 -again with Rolex buckle. They look real nice. You will see one on "100 percent Rolex"-Bernhard's blog if you scroll down. Check out the website--they are towards bottom of website: For a Sub-I would probably go with the Classic or one of his others. They are pretty nice and take about 3 weeks or so to make for you.

You can have any manner of leather straps commissioned to be built to your exact specifications. PM me for some great strap makers.

Thanks everyone. So many choices!
Anyone know who I might contact to get a Rolex band? Again, my AD is completely useless. Maybe you know of an AD who has a better idea of options. It would be nice to get a band with an 18k Rolex buckle. |
