Just got my Green Sub on Friday. Serial says 2Y. Is this a random number or would it mean second year of production a la Panerai???

16610 LV Random serial

I recently purchased a new last of the old model 16610LV (green sub) with a random serial number. IS this something of a rare watch. Would there be an estimate of how many were produced? Thanks
